Hoping to find some cruise critics who are taking this tour. We are planing on staying in Paris for four days after the cruise and are looking for fun things to do. Been to the Tower, Louve, Versailles, Montmartre and the artists. Lets get a group together so we can have a meet & greet on the ship.

Hi there -

When we took this cruise in Sept '08, the movies "The Longest Day" played on the boat the day before we went to Normandy, and "Saving Private Ryan" played either that day, or the day after. Both would be good to see.

I had not seen "Saving Private Ryan" before then - and it was quite sobering to realize I had walked through the American Cemetery where the movie opened.

If you are looking for things to see in Paris - you might be interested in going to the Orangerie gallery in the corner of the Tuillerie Gardens --> that is where Monet's original water lillies are housed. The gallery just re-opened in 2008. It is small, but the water lilly canvases are breathtaking. It was great to see them after stopping in Giverny where they were painted.

The gift shop at the Orangerie has a few items that the gift shop at Giverny does not have. My cousin wanted a poster for her daughter, but the posters at Giverny were standard poster size. The posters in the Orangerie were more representative of the actual paintings (ie: long and narrow) --> and thus easier to bring back (came in their own mailing tube...)

Just as an fyi... if you re-post over on the River & Canal cruise thread, you may get a few more responses.

Welcome to the board!!!

Is this your first time to Paris? A cruise on the Seine River is a "must do". Most last about an hour and pass by Notre Dame, the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, etc.
