Formal night alternatives?

Recommended Posts

Having done more than our share of "formal nights", we are honestly tired of the spectacle (good and bad), and plan to go on this cruise with no formal or even semi-formal attire. A nice pair of slacks, and evening blouse is the limit. Are there dining venues (other than room service) that will accomodate casual attire on formal nights?

While not wanting to participate in the dress-ups, I want to respect the spirit of things and those who want to go all out. What are our alternatives? Also, are they strict about the dress code in the theatres, clubs, etc. on formal nights, or just the dining venues?

I think all the dining venues with the exception of 150 and maybe Chops will be OK. Even then I would say you probably will be safe at any. Formal attire is suggested in the Main Dining Room, I do not believe they put that moniker on any other venue. Definitely OK for the shows.

We are planning on eating at Chops for 2 of our upcoming formal nights for our April cruise. The other 2 we are not sure, we will probably just wing it. Maybe room service one night and the Solarium the other.

No. You will find plenty of people in the casino and shows who are dressed casually. Some probably went to dinner that way; others may have dressed formally for dinner and then changed. We do that sometimes, especially on the 2nd formal night. We'll dress up for dinner but then change to go to the casino or disco.

Windjammer, Park Cafe, Sorrentos and Cafe Promenade are also available and are no fee.
