How Much is a taxi or transfer from Messina to Taormina (half day)?

I was quoted a hogh price for a half day tour of Taormina from one of the companies and MSC is even cheaper at 49 euros pp

 

My question is: about how much does a taxi cost from messina to Taormina and back for 4 people? We will opnly have time between 7 and 14, so effectively between 8 and 13 I think

We, too, are interested in private transportation (without tour) from Messina to Taormina, so any additional information would be helpful! Will taxis be readily available at the port? And for the return? Thanks, everyone.

someone just brought to my attention that since our port time is very short (7-14) I am way better off taking the 49 ship excursion to Taormina, since we are guaranteed that they'll wait for us if we are late.

If we go at it alone, we need to build in a time buffer.

 

I am curious how long the drive is to Taormina. Any ideas?

We wanted to have something prebooked as there will be six of us, and didn't want to chance finding a cab big enough.
