No great fan of cruise ship group trips but we did the Dominica Emerald pool trafalgar falls trip.

Very good and well worth it especially the trip to emerald pool and the rainforest there.

We did the Grenada hike to Seven Sisters.Alright but hoards of people there.

Would bother with St.Maartens trips. There is a perfectly nice beach and shoppoing area walkable from the ship.

Ditto Tortola where you can pick up a train/bus effort for about 20 dollars each to a nice beach. It picks up passengers right outside the cruise terminal.

Get taxi or walk to Dickonsons bay in Antigua for a nice beach. We walked ther took about 30 mins.

Its a great cruise and you will have a wonderful time.

Hi ricoghardforth

Did this trip March last year and booked again March 2011 - it is brilliant.

Did the following ships tours:

Grenada

Hike to Seven Sisters: Had a great time. Walk down to the falls is fine, uneven surface, but coming back up was tiring. Take your swim stuff as you can swim in the pool at the bottom of the falls. Bit disappointed we couldn't get to see all the falls as there was a lot of fallen debris blocking the way up the the top ones, but it was still a great day.

St Lucia

Just went on the beach trip, but it wasn't a particularly great beach, so wouldn't recommend it. There are plenty of other beaches I would think that would be better. A friend did the Great Views of St Lucia and said it was awful. Lots of complaints apparently.

St Maarten

Did the St Maarten Island tour which took us to the French side first where we stopped fo a while so we could walk around the market, have a drinks etc. Then back to the Dutch side. We got dropped off in the town (you can go back to the ship) and had a good look round the shops, had a drink then got the water taxi back over to the ship. If you go back to the ship from the coach you can get the water taxi back and forth.

Tortola

Swam with the dolphins, but booked it ourselves before we went on the internet. It was a lot cheaper than the Thomson trip and there was also a much smaller group. We had 6 people in our group as opposed to around 25 in the Thomson trip. On the second week here we did the forest walk and beach. This was absolutely brilliant. We walked up Sage Mountain - the views from the top are incredible - and then we went to Cane Garden Bay which is absolutely fabulous.

Dominican Republic

Did the Altos De Chavon & Mississippi Boat Ride trip. Well worth the money. Really enjoyed this one and will probably do it again next year. It's nice to be able to fit something in during the middle of the two itineraries.

Barbados

Just got a taxi into Bridgetown and walked back along the coast. Next year we will do a tour to see a bit more of the island. Mt OH wants to go to the Mount Gay Rum factory.

Dominica

Not sure our one is listed. We went to an Indian reservation and then to the Emerald Pool. We had a very knowledgeable guide on our coach who told us lots of useful info during the drive.

St Kitts

Did the Best of St Kitts where we finished up at Brimstone Fort. My OH loved it here as he loves history. We visited a place where they made lovely cushions etc. It was a really good trip. Some friends did the Tale of Bygone times which still finishes at Brimstone but visits an old plantation house on the way and they said this was good too.

We have found Thomson excursion prices to be quite reasonable for what you get. I know a lot of people do their own thing in the Caribbean and there are plenty of tours waiting for you at the ports. There are only 2 of us travelling and we find that by going on the Thomson tours we get to meet people who we bump into on the ship and make new friends.

Hope this helps a bit. We will probably try some different trips next year, although OH wants to swim with the dolphins again.

Janet
