chadci Posted January 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2010 We cannot make up our mind on an excursion in or is it on ? Cozumel. We are also considering just wandering around on our own. A. Is it safe to do? B. Where would we want to go? C. How far is the port ( crusing Carnival) from where we would want to go?
przyk Posted January 31, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2010 There are 3 piers for cruise ships in Cozumel. We will be on the Carnival Inspiration and it has been docking at the Playa Maya pier, but no guarantees. The Playa Maya and one other pier are south of town. From what I have read it is a short and cheap taxi ride into the town center where you will find lots of shops and restaurants. We just wandered around the last time we were in Cozumel. You will find mainly other cruise passengers, so unless you find that unsafe, it is perfectly safe in Cozumel. I suppose the farther you wander inland you will find more locals and less cruisers. We found going even one block inland much more pleasant than the shops and bars right along the waterfront. We are going to start at Mr. Sanchos beach club where we can have a drink and some apps a la carte, rather than a $50.00 per person all inclusive beach experience. Then we plan to taxi into town and wander around and have an early dinner before we get back on the ship.
chadci Posted February 1, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted February 1, 2010 Will the cab drivers take USD? Also, I've heard of some sort of mega market near the pier. Is it close / easy to get to if we need to stock back up on supplies for the rest of the week?
