New to the Bahamas

Hi all,

There are 5 of us in a group. And we're thinking of doing a land vacation in the Bahamas. But none of us have ever been there before. We're not sure which Island would be the best. We were thinking Nassau but again, we're not sure.

We are interested in the beaches, snorkeling, hiking, scuba diving and just general relaxing with restaurants and/or some night life as well. Any ideas out there? Any advice would be appreciated.
