buster parry Posted January 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2010  Hi Can anyone tell me what currency to use in the Red Sea Ports? I see from other threads Dollars, Euros and UK Pounds are acceptable in Petra, but we hope to do Cairo and Luxor as well as Petra. Thanx Alot ;)
jenny wren Posted January 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2010 Its the same in Egypt...they will accept anything...always a good place to use up any dollars you may have left from another holiday....if you want a few Egyptian pounds for tips they are readily available in Post offices which is where we get our travel money at good rates. Cymro1953 Posted January 31, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2010 When we were in Cairo in June all they wanted were Euros then dollars and Egyptian pounds last. That was both street hawkers and proper shops and the Cairo Museum. Berwyn
mtt Posted January 31, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2010 If you go to the pyramids take along some £1 coins, you will get fed up of hearing "one english pound" from the hawkers
