After Dinner clothes

The dress code is for the entire evening - which means until you go to sleep or the sun rises, whichever comes first ;-)

 

I've seen passengers change into shorts or jeans after dinner (mainly on ships where passengers tend to not have a clue) and consider that disrespectful. If you don't want to follow the dress code, book a trip on a casual ship or a resort on land. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing casual clothes on formal night.....or shorts/jeans on *any* night.

This made me laugh out loud. I have never read anywhere "thou shall not change out of formal wear until you go to bed."

 

Would you like security to escort the "clueless" back to their cabins and demand they put their gown and tux back on!!

The only time I change after dinner is if we're going to MUTS. If we're outside under the stars watching a movie I'll change to something soft and comfy since I usually fall asleep during the movie anyway.

 

Otherwise we wear what is appropriate for dinner all evening.

One of my granddaughters changes after dinner into a different formal gown. She wants photos in more than two formal gowns in a week's cruise! She's a happy kid with lots of prom dresses left from high school!

 

I have seen young people in jeans, shorts, etc., late in the evening on formal nights, so it is done by some, but I think it's more trouble than it's worth. My formal gowns and shoes are comfortable enough and attractive enough that I could wear them happily for six to eight hours if needed. If they weren't comfortable enough to wear for the entire evening, they would not have made it into my bag, or even into my closet. Life is way too short to be uncomfortable in your clothes.

trenieyvo, please feel free to change if you want to. You have dressed for dinner and you looked fabulous too, I might add. ;) If you want to change into something more casual and comfy, please do so. No one will (or at least SHOULD) look down on you for this. If others are uncomfortable, that is certainly not your problem.

I don't change after dinner. Then again, I don't dress up much in the first place.

We usually change after dinner. We dress up formally to be respectful in the dining room, but there are so many places to go on the ship that do not require you to be in formal attire. If we go to the show after dinner, we will dress appropriately. Some of us aren't comfortable in dress clothes and definitely don't feel attractive just because we put on a dress. I can't imagine that the other passengers on the ship would require that we remain uncomfortable all night long for their benefit. The pool area is usually the place of choice for us after formal dinner and we don't feel that formal attire is required there.

I usually pack so light I wouldnt have extra clothes to change into, so my next change is into pajamas at night :)

 

But....even though I like to pack light and take few shoes along, I just may start taking a pair of flats to change into after the formal dinners. I'll bet I can find a pair of dressy, open toed, flat sandals that wouldn't look too ridiculous with cocktail dresses.

Sometimes i like to workout after dinner. So i will change to workout clothes. Then Jammies. other wise I feel pretty all dressed up.

if hubby is uncomfortable in his clothes or if i want to get out of the long dress and into some capris or something we will change...i always have couple EXTRAs so we have the option.

I second that notion! I share your opinion with you. The only thing I may go back and change is my shoes if my feet are hurting ...LOL.

We also do not change after dinner (unless we are going to the MUTs movie).

My husband changes out of his nice shirt and tie at the first available opportunity. I sometimes change because I find it to be cold in some areas of the ship and most of my dresses are sleeveless. I change into something nice that I can put a sweater over if needed.
