LynandBill Posted February 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Hi, Getting ready for our Ruby Cruise. In Barbados we are going to try Accra Beach. Looking for a nice part of the beach close to drinks and food? Also, wondering the cost of a taxi from cruise terminal to the beach and cost at the beach. Thanks! Gathered from other posts: taxi from port to Accra Beach is $15 per person round trip. Across the road from the beach is Quayside Center - shops & restaurants. Water sports available. Can rent 2 chairs & umbrella for $15. The boardwalk goes north toward the Hilton Hotel, but it takes about an hour to walk there.
Dgonza Posted February 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Take the Bus its .75 cents (usd)eachway thats what we did. You just walk out of the gates about a 1/4 mile or so and you will see the bus station on your left side. Beware you are going to have all kinds of taxi drivers bombarding you trying to get your business.....Just ignore them and keep walking. The flying fish sandwich they sell there is to die for....mmmmm yummy!!!

Dgonza Posted February 3, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2010 Come to think of it that is correct. We took the bus outside of the terminal to Cranes Bay to snorkel with the turtles. Then we caught the bus from there and cut all across town over to ACCRA Beach. What do you mean its the safer way? There was nothing unsafe about travelling on the public bus. It was a great experience, and cheap too!!

Rustynail Posted February 4, 2010 #8 Share Posted February 4, 2010 Nice beach, good food close by and some small huts selling things right on the beach. More food and shopping across the road. It's a great place to chill. Dan

Dgonza Posted February 15, 2010 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2010 Well actually we went to Paynes bay first.(West Coast) That was bout a 15 min ride. From there we went over to Accra beach (South coast) and that was about a 30 min ride. From Accra we got dropped off in the middle of down town and had to walk back to the ship about 3/4 of a mile. I think the ride from Accra to downtown was about 10 min or so. I also read somewhere on these boards that instead of getting off the bus downtown, to just stay on it and it will take you to the Prince Alice Bus Station which is 1/4 mile from the cruise dock. We opted to walk from downtown and had a great time in Barbados and really cheap transportation......Cant beat it for $0.75 Usd Each bus.
Dgonza Posted February 15, 2010 #11 Share Posted February 15, 2010 PS. I thought the Beach was pretty nice. The sand has a pinkish tint to it. The waves were such that you could do a little bit of body surfing....but nothing too extravagent.
