carriage rides in Merida info?

I'm in the process of putting together my day in Merida. I recall some posters mentioning taking carriage rides in Merida that take you around some of the more famous sites.

If we take the bus to Merida, how close are we to the carriage rides? Should we do this first or walk around on own? How long and how much is the rides?

Any info is helpful!!

You'll find the carriages waiting on the across the street from the Cathedral. Facing the Cathedral they will be to the left. $20-25 for about 50 minutes. Well worth the cost and time. Paseo Montejo is a beautiful boulivard. I would explore the area of the central plaza first.
