Triumph Questions

What all can you tell me about the Triumph out of New Orleans? How is the port and debarkation? The ship and food? Am looking at the April 3 itinerary to Key West, Freeport and Nassau.

Please just chime in with anything you think would be helpful in determining. We always get a balcony cabin...how are they?

I have recently sailed on the Triumph on that itinerary...ours was a bit cold because we sailed during that freak freezing snap. We also had a balcony cabin on the Verandah deck....all in all, food was good, embarkation and debarkation was smooth....ports were easy to get off of the ship and back on with hardly any lines etc...

I would suggest getting to the parking garage around 10:30 to be able to avoid long lines and do self debarkation to get off of the ship before 9-10...we were in the parking garage around 8ish...

Anything more specific and I will try to answer.

;)

If you click on the below picture, it will bring you to my pictures of Triumph cruise Thanksgiving 2009. We had the same ports. Enjoy.

I took that itinerary last May and it was okay. Key West Rocks!

But Freeport kinda sucks, there really is nothing around the port. You have to go off aways to be able to do anything. We went to a fleamarket and then a casino and then to the beach.

When you are in Nassau, you MUST go see Atlantis. It is very short taxi or boat ride for about $3.00 The straw market is okay but vendors sell everything the same. You have to like purses there.

We were on the FaNTASY AND loved it

Great pics - thanks for sharing! We are going on the Triumph in May, but are going to Cozumel and Progresso. I do love Key West.

We are going on that cruise and can't wait. I hope you decide to join us. If you do, please come over to our roll call. Be sure to check for discounts when and if you book. There have been some military, senior, past guest and area discounts. Of course I don't know if you may qualify for any of them but they have kind of been off and on. I have had several reductions from different discounts. We were able to get our first balcony because the military discounts kept dropping.

Hi Carol! Thank you! We are still trying to decide. I so want to visit New Orleans and we just love Key West so this sounds great. We were on the Freedom back in September which stopped in Key West and it was the best. Do you know how New Orleans weather is in April?

Oh,and since we are past guests, we would get the past guest rate. ;)

We are going on the Triumph in a couple weeks but to Cozumel and Progreso.....but have to say that Freeport is still one of our favorite ports. Most people don't get away from the port area of Freeport and explore the wonderful beaches of Lucaya. Make it a beach day!

New Orleans in April will be nice. We are leaving on the Truimph on April 10th. But we are doing Western cruise. I guess I am kinda turned off to New Orleans after Katrina, many things happened there and there is a lot of political decisions that were made. But New Orleans will start to get hot in May but sometimes we are hot in November.

Flew last March on Fantasy. Hotel to airport was around $40 for 4 in taxi. It is a flat rate. I used priceline and stayed before and after cruise at Marriott Pere Marquette for $50 a night. It was a nice hotel. I have also stayed at Royal Sonesta in FQ and enjoyed it. Plan to drive this March for cruise on Triumph and have a room with 8 days valet parking at Mariott Convention Center for $159. Enjoy your cruise.

Had a really nice trip on the Triumph 1/28. Got to New Orleans early and stayed at the Hampton Inn in the Garden District right across from the street-car stop. Parked for free and took the street car to the French Quarter for the afternoon. Ate at Cafe Monde and took a 30 minute carriage ride to learn about the area. Highly recommend this to see more ground without walking the entire quarter.

Arrived at the terminal about 11:30. Within 30 minutes we were on the ship. Ship was nice (big improvement from the Fantasy) and we enjoyed the trip. Evening shows included a New Orleans music review, an around the world music review, and a comedian. The adult late-night show had more people then the room's capacity so we caught the later version at midnight. There was a jazz musician planned but they missed the ship. Cabin was standard Carnival and service was excellent, as always. Food was good (though not as superb as I recall from some prior trips).

In Cozumel we rented a car from Less-Pay. Much cheaper including full-coverage insurance. Took a cab there (it's en route to downtown) and when we returned the car, they dropped us off back at the ship. It was great getting away from the crowds and driving around the island - snorkeling, having a beer on the beach, and seeing the blow holes on the other side of the island.

Getting off was a fiasco. We did self-disembark needing to be off hte ship early. Apparently everyone else did the same as the hallways were jammed. We didn't get off until after 10:30 (well after those with the luggage tags left in our room were off the ship). That didn't damper our trip though - had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

We cruised on the Triumph out of Miami last spring break and had a wonderful time. The crew and especially the dinning room staff were very accomodating and tons of fun. I, unfortunately, injured my lower back (soft tissue, but extremely painful) two weeks before the cruise. I could barely walk without screaming in pain. The crew of the Triumph were wonderful to me. I was allowed to sit out the life jacket drill in the lounge. The room service people couldn't do enough for me and the same went for our room steward. Everyone was so thoughtful and kind. I would love to sail on the Triumph again so that I could fully explore her. In spite of my pain I had a wonderful time, largely due to the kindness and consideration I was given by the staff.

Also, the wine bar is really cool and has great martinis. That helped a little with the pain!:D

Ditto

We were getting off the day yall were getting on.

(We were on the Jan 23-28 cruise)

The crew was saying self assist was a nightmare. I thought we were gonna do self assist,

but my wife changed our minds.

We were in group 7 I think our time was supposed to be 9:15-9:30.

We finally got called about 10:15 and self assist was still going strong, but

once called we were off the ship in a taxi in less than 15 minutes..not too bad.

We just got back from the Triumph. Feb 1 - Feb 6. We had a balcony and it was great. The Lido food was ok. We did the Your Time dining and it was excellent. We waited until about 12:30 to get to the pier and there was no line for the parking deck, and we were on the ship within about 25 minutes of arrival. Debarkation was interesting as they started with self debarkation (normal) and it took about an hour for the self debarkers to finish, but within 25 minutes all of us with luggage numbers were off the ship and when we got to our zone, our's were the only 3 bags in the zone, so it seems that amost everyone did the self debarkation. To sum-up debarkation, they started around 8am, and all zones were called by 9:25ish.

Have a great time!!

Does anyone have a picture of an ocean view on triumph? I tried search and couldn't find any...do all ocean view have that extra couch? looks like the rooms are a little larger than the inside rooms..

Not ocean view but balcony. I would think they would be the same size, except balcony:

Hi John: Welcome home! Just read you are back from a Triumph cruise out of NO. I'm glad you had a good time. We are awaiting our Triumph cruise of 2/20. We'll have 2 days in NO before and 1 after the cruise. Can't wait to experience some warmer weather and see new sights. It's snowing in CT so our trip can't come quick enough! Any advice for first time cruisers aboard the Triumph? Would appreciate any tips you'd like to share. Blessings, Karen
