mcbrides Posted May 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2004 I've read several posts about reservations for the Mystery Dinner night. What is this? Can you reserve in advance or do you wait until on the ship? Is it always one night at Portofinos? How much extra does it cost? Any thoughts on whether it's worth the money? aqusis Posted May 25, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 25, 2004 The Murder Mystery is only for one night and is in Portofinos. You do have to make reservations but cannot do so until you are onboard. The cost is $50 per person. bab Posted May 25, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Is this 'murder mystery' available on all cruises that have a Portofinos resturant? Thanks for the info.
justcruzin85374 Posted May 25, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 25, 2004 On the Brilliance it sold out quickly, so I know it 's popular. But $50.00 a person seems a little high....the normal charge is $20.00 for dinner, does anyone know what the other $30.00 is for? *** Soveriegn 92 E. Caribbean Majesty 95 W. Caribbean Granduer 97 E. Tra4 Posted May 25, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2004 The other 30.00 is basically for the entertainment. Its a dinner show. Until we cruise again. . . . . . crosj Posted May 25, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 25, 2004 Please be aware that you do not get to order off the regular dinner menu while attending the mystery dinner. You will have your choice of three main entrees and all the wine you wish. It was fun but once was enough. mdmourges Posted May 25, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 25, 2004 My fiance and I did the MM on a recent cruise on Brilliance. I will tell you I must have adult ADD so I get bored very quickly. To me the show dragged on too long. You started in the Colony club with a few glass of champagne and got to meet the characters (who are just various staff memeber on the cruise, ie. not paid actors). You asked them questions, etc. in an effort to start solving the mystery. This lasted about 45 - 60 minutes. You then went into Portofinos where they served you wine and dinner and the each character came to your table, at which time you again peppered them with questions. After about another 1 1/2 of this, I had to leave. Got bored but the others that stayed had a good time. Think it lasted a total of about 3 1/2 hours. If you want to participate, you need to sign up early. Mark

dougp26364 Posted May 27, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 27, 2004 3 1/3 hours? Thank goodness there's all the wine you can drink. My wife loves this sort of stuff but it just kills me (no pun intended). If I drink enough wine, maybe I won't notice? I've got over 500 days at this point before I have to worry about it anyway.
