star gazing on board

We will be sailing in August on the Sky, just in time for the best meteor showers of the year. Any tips, especially for photography, would be appreciated. Also, has anyone heard of star gazing parties on board the ships?

Bring a tripod and your fastest, best lens (if DSLR) Set high ISO, wide open shutter, use a remote shutter release if you have one if not use timer. Use manual focus if your camera has it.

Onboard a cruise ship is not going to be a good place to get photos of a meteor shower. The lights from the decks will compete and you're on a moving vehicle which will blur your shots. Tripods don't work very well on a ship because the vibration from the engine travels up through the tripod. I would enjoy seeing it, but wouldn't count on getting any usable photos.
