Transportation from Whittier to Anchorage Airport?

Hi Everyone,

 

When we disembark the ship in Whittier we have intentions of taking the PWS tour that same day...However we need to go to the Anchorage Airport to pick up our rental car first and then drive to the tour. What would be the best way to get to the Anchorage Airport...Is the train station there at the ship? Or should we take a bus, taxi, or limo?? What time do you suggest getting off the ship? After the 3 1/2 hour tour we plan on driving straight to Denali Park, good idea or bad? (spending two nights)

This is a poor plan. From Whittier, you are looking at a 7 hour drive, with stops to Denali Park. Add, to it the round trip car pick up, (not sure why you are considering this??) And the PWS boat tour, which is more than 3 hours. You also have to factor in tunnel wait time, IF you go with your orginal plan, needing 3 "waits" for the tunnel.

 

I suggest , you forget the boat tour, and get yourself to Denali Park. OR add another day.

 

Your options for transfers from Whittier to Anchorage, are- cruise contracted bus, (they "may" have a train??), independent shuttles- listings http://www.anchorage.net or one way rental cars with Avis.
