CruzControl Posted January 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2005 Does anyone have any recommendations for good beaches to visit when we stop at Barbados? We tried to venture out on our own during our last cruise and hope to avoid following the shoreline for several hours this time looking for a nice place to sit and enjoy the water. Thanks! CruiseFever Posted January 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2005 Does anyone have any recommendations for good beaches to visit when we stop at Barbados? We tried to venture out on our own during our last cruise and hope to avoid following the shoreline for several hours this time looking for a nice place to sit and enjoy the water. Thanks! Just get in a cab and tell a driver to take you to a nice beach on the Atlantic side. You'll see way better waves and prettier beaches there than a whole lot of other places. Here's more on Barbados from the Cruise Critic Barbados Port of Call board (believe what "Mr Barbados" says) and here's some video of Barbados . And here, I threw together a little photo gallery for you too.
bottledweller Posted January 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2005 We went to the Malibu rum factory. After the tour you get to hang out on a beautiful beach.
Islandbuoy Posted January 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2005 we had a cabbie take us to a beach just a bit north - at the Tamarind resort--about a $10 ride nice beach with changing facility @ the hotel. Just stop a cabbie --they are very interested in keeping the tourists happy
CruzControl Posted January 20, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 20, 2005 Thanks for the great information everyone! We had a cabbie take us to a beach the last time we were there and it was not very nice at all. the beach was small and extremely dirty. nothing like the reviews we had read about barbados. thought we might get some advice from the experts! thanks again. gopher's girl Posted January 20, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2005 We took a cab to the Malibu factory, paid $7 or $8 for a tour - free drink included, and you can spend the entire day on the beach - they have chairs and umbrellas, and there was a trampoline out in the water. It was great.
kroth Posted January 21, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2005 Have been to Barbados many times, by land & by sea. The best beach is Crane Beach. It is a scenic ride from the pier but well worth it...the beach is one of the ten best in the world, according to Robin Leaches Rich & Famous report. Sand like silk, a bit of surf & just gorgeous. Good restaurant at the top also. Grab a private cab at the pier & go. You will not be disappointed.
MrBill64 Posted January 22, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2005 I second Kroth's recommendation. Crane Beach is fantastic. The sand is as soft as you will find anywhere. It won't be crowded, and the view from the top of the bluff overlooking the beach is lovely. Bill
