iamaphisig Posted February 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Everyone on the boards talks in secret hushed-tones about a wonderful travel agency that everyone seems to use... is it possible for someone to let me in on the super-secret information? iamaphisig at aol dot com
SandyMc Posted February 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2010 If you read the rules for Cruise Critic, you will see that no one is allowed to identify any travel agent/agencies by name - good or bad. Seems kinda harsh but it's sink or swim for yourself! All of us, at one time or another, have wanted help finding the right agent but you won't get it on this board. Sorry! Krazy Kruizers Posted February 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2010 Why not ask people who live in your area who they have used to book a cruise?? And ask them who they liked that TA or agency? Surley someone you know has taken a cruise.
iamaphisig Posted February 17, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted February 17, 2010 I've been on cruises, I just haven't been happy with the travel agent I've been using. I never use a TA for other travel, but when I booked my honeymoon (21 days to Antarctica) it seemed intimidating to book on my own. Then I was frustrated because I couldn't call Holland and get any answers for myself. This time I'm frustrated to not have any deals. I'm shocked that Holland isn't offering better deals on a cruise that's coming so soon - about a month away with lots of cabins still available. Plus no discount for past cruisers. I'm just lookin' for a deal!
CruisinManiac Posted February 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2010 I don't know what kind of "deal" you are looking for, but I see all kinds of good prices this close to sailing. Your best bet is to book 3-4 weeks out. I work with a cruise specialist, and she was able to get me a cruise for $50 less pp than what HAL was selling the cruise for. However, this will all change with the supposedly new "fare rules" that HAL is to begin soon. ;) Good luck finding the perfect TA. :)
fann1sh Posted February 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2010 It's also against the rules to link to other cruise boards. However, there *are* other sites which allow you to freely discuss and recommend travel agents. The site which owns this site is one of them. Google is your friend. Pat.bz Posted February 17, 2010 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2010 I did my TA research onboard a long b2b--I located the cruisers who sailed frequently, struck up conversations, took notes.
