What time to catch the train on disembarkation day?

Recommended Posts

Do you think we could get to the train station before by 7:50 AM to catch the train? The next one is at 12:45 PM -- what should we do until that one comes if the other is too early. Suggestions? We are getting off the Crown Princess in Quebec City. We want to catch the train to Montreal (VIA Rail).

Thanks.

I suggest the later train. Quebec is worth at least a stroll on the ramparts in front of the Chateau Frontenac. After all it was founded in 1608. Enjoy.

We are on th 9/17 from NYC cruise on Crown Princess and my friend and I are also considering taking the train from Quebec City to Montreal and flying home from there. I agree that the later train would be easier. I have no idea yet when it arrives, though. We were just thinking it would be more fun to view the scenery between the two cities if we weren't trying to drive it.

While I agree a bit of extra time in QC is worth it, it would indeed be quite possible to catch the 7:50 am train if, as I believe is the case, your ship overnights in QC. The train station is quite close to the port - you can either grab a taxi for a short 5-minute-ish ride, hop a city bus (bus No. 1, runs every 15 minutes) which stops right in front of the station, or walk it, maybe 20-25 minutes.

For those of us from the mountains, there isn't much scenery except at the very beginning and end as you cross the St Lawrence river.
