Venice - May 3

We will be joining the Wind in Venice on May 3 (woohoo :D 75 days!).

We've never been to Venice - how difficult is it to get from the boat to San Marco, and is it easier by foot or water taxi? Walking would be fine as we both love to wander around new cities.

Secondly, does anyone know who is currently Captain and CD? This will be our 3rd time on the Wind, and we sailed with Cptn Arma and Colin Brown both times (Ralph as well, I was sad to hear that he had left).

Thanks

Michele

You'll probably be at San Basilio. That's a longish, but easy and picturesque walk to San Marco. There's a vaporetto (water bus) stop right outside, and that will take you all the way around to San Marco: even more spectacular, especially if you go the long way around via the Grand Canal. The vaporettos are frequent, cheap, easy to use and "everybody" rides them. (It might be worth checking online and maybe downloading a route map.) Water taxis should be available too: slightly quicker, much more exclusive and very expensive.
