We will be in Nassau on a Tuesday with tons of other people from about 1 to 7 (back on baord by 6:30) p.m.

We would like to go to a Beach. Day passes at the hotels would probably not be a good deal for us due to limited amount of time and availability. Where should we go? Any beaches that offer watersports?

We visited Nassau for those same hours in early Feb '10. We decided to g on a booze cruise for $60/pp which has a bit of snorkelling included(which wasnt very good fyi) and a stop for about an hour on a private island. It was a great time (if you like to drink!) lots of music, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Lots of fun, sun, and sights as we cruised past Atlantis and all the million dollar homes along the shore.

Port Lucaya(sp),,,approx 10 min taxi van ride,,,,,tell driver,,he will drop you off between the two big hotels. There are always cabs to catch back. Think it was 10 bucks each way. Capts Tonys might be a good one for a sunset cruise. He has a sight www.sanddollarcruise.com and he is on Facebook now.

Port Lucaya is in Freeport not Nassau. Different islands altogether.

To answer the OP's question: take a $4 taxi ride (per person - one way) from the tourist center at the pier to Cabbage beach. (on Paradise island) It's a beautiful clean beach and the locals don't harass you too much...just be careful, the waves can get a little rough some days. The taxi will drop you off near a small path that takes you down to the beach itself. (between 2 hotels) Once you're ready to head back, just take the path back up and you'll see plenty of taxis waiting to take people back to the pier.

My wife and I we're at Cabbage beach in November and are heading back there next September. It's one of our favorite beaches in the Carribbean. :)

Have fun!

Cabbage Beach is a public beach. There are no restrooms, concession stands or life guards. There ARE some locals renting chaise loungers and umbrellas, and selling rum drinks and water out of their coolers.

The beach is quite nice, some days the water is just light rolling waves, others it can be very rough with a strong undertow.

There is a deep drop off, so it's not good for little children.

Jetskis and Parasailing are available in the area. Cost range from $60 - $90 are are negotiable. The vendors are independent owners, so be careful, some are not very honest.
