I had an oceanview on deck 2 or 3, cant remember which. I actually liked it. We had some waves the one day and every now and then a wave would hit against our window, it was cool to see the spray shoot up. Overall you are in the room very little either way.

Only down side is you are very far from "the action" (pool, windjammer etc), the positive is you are in the basement so the elevators wont be full when they get to your floor.

I am sailing on Explorer of the Seas to Bermuda on April 10th. Did anyone ever have an oceanview cabin on desk 2 before?

I'm sailing with you. Join the Roll Call.

I haven't had an ocean view on Explorer but I did have a deck 2 OV on Voyager. The ships are identical in layout. It's a nice big round window and it was fun to look outside and see what was happening on the pier as we docked. The only problem we had was that on the Voyager class of ships, the ice rink is smack in the middle of decks 2 and 3 and you have to go up to either deck 4 or deck 5 to cross the ship. Deck 4 has the casino and some folks, like me, are bothered by the smoke.

My DH doesn't do stairs and this was a real problem for us. We wound up having to wait for the elevator to go up to deck 5, walk the Promenade then take the elevator down to the dining room. Now we book balconies on Voyager class ships. Not as many problems getting here from there.

Looking forward to seeing you on board. Some of us will be at the Schooner Bar at 3 PM with mardi gras beads.

I am currently booked on the Explorer in May 2010 and it seems that the reviews have consistantly gotten worse and worse since I originally booked. I know that I have to take everything with a "grain of salt" and there are a few good reviews, but the whole mood of the reviews seem to be going in the negative direction. I am very concerned. Are there any recent cruisers out there that can set my mind at ease. Thank you.:(

Hi, which May cruise are you doing? I will be on May 22nd. This will be our third time on the Explorer. I really don't pay much attention to others reviews as it is THERE personal opinion. I was on last year and had the BEST time.

Was on her the 24th of January, you will have a great time. Keep in mind many of the people on cruise critic are very experienced cruisers so they tend to point out very tiny little things that normally you wouldn't notice. Also you are constantly comparing the service to the best service you have ever gotten on board. Every one can't be the best but cruising is still an amazing trip and you will have a great time. I hated the Explorer so much my gf and I are going back on her April 29th. Enjoy your cruise

Thank you all for your replies. I will be on the 5/27 sailing. I have been reading the live thread currently on the board and listening to everyone here, so I feel pretty good about the trip again. I really appreciate all of your input.
