Celebration Review - short

We just returned today from a 5-day Celebration cruise. I'll just list a few positives and negatives, and if you have questions, you can post them here or e-mail me.

Positives: Overall it was a great trip. The ship is small enough that it's easy to find your way around. There is plenty of food, and everything is good. We had 6 people in our party, so a variety of things was ordered at each meal. We had almost all of our meals in the dining room, and our waiter and assistant were outstanding. We have been on many cruises and have had good service, but the two we had were exceptional in their service. There were two big production shows - "Standing Room Only" and "X-treme Country." There were both good, but we thought SRO was considerably better than the other. SRO is mostly Broadway tunes, and X-C was mostly country. I like country music, but it just didn't seem to have the pazazz of the other show. The first night's comedian didn't make it onto the ship, so we ended up only seeing one-Dean Gaines-and we've seen him before; he's funny. There was another one-Brad Tassel-that we didn't see, but I heard he was funny as well. There was also a magician one night; he was okay. Since we spent quite a bit of time in the casino (and came home winners!), we didn't catch any of the other entertainment. Embarkation and disembarkation were the usual - no problems, just a little slow.

Negatives - I'm not sure I would sail on this ship again unless it was in the summer. It was WAY too rocky for me. We had very big seas on the first night, and most people were sick. Even crew members said they were sick-which is unusual for them. There weren't even 100 people for the "Welcome Aboard" show. The third night was almost as bad, but at least for me, I didn't get sick that night as I had the first - and I had taken motion sickness pills both time. I just took a double dose on the third night. It was very windy for the entire cruise. Some things were cancelled because of this, and it was a bit chilly for shorts, even in the ports, but you can't do anything about the weather, and it didn't spoil our cruise. We just did some things we don't normally do since we didn't go outside for any sun. We were able to get out one day for about an hour, though. The bar service at the Trolley Bar was really bad-poor attitudes from the bartenders, but the drinks were good.

Again, if you have any questions, just let me know.

TO Tim and Bonnie - I gave your message to Carmo; he was our Maitre' D. He said to tell you that you don't write often enough. He was a great guy, and we enjoyed him very much. He always came to our table to talk!

Linda,

Thanks for the review!!!!! Fortunately for me . . . I'll be able to heed your advice about the waves since we'll be going in June. Hopefully we won't have the wind etc you had as well as being able to wear SHORTS!!!! :D

Glad you had a good time regardless of the weather conditions!!!!

You didn't mention children in your review so I'm assuming due to the time of year that you didn't have many on board with you. I'm just really curious to see how my 13 year old DD (will be 14 at time of cruise) will enjoy cruising. I might be starting an "addiction" . . . at least it's a GOOD ONE!!!!!

Linda

Can you confirm what shows they are doing on the Celebration. I got a report they were the same shows from last year when Celebration was leaving out of Galveston (we did that one). Just curious. They were both good I thought.
