112 BUS to EZE - Latest information.

The bus continues to run between Monaco and Eze every 90 - 120 minutes. The on-line timetables are accurate. We took it last week, catching the 9:55 bus to Eze which came to the bus stop much later than it was supposed to. We came back on the bus which was supposed to pick us up at Eze around 2:30 and again it was rather late arriving and very crowded.

What made life much easier in the morning was that we caught the # 2 Monaco city bus, which is right across from the port and took it to the Crémaillère stop. This was well worth the extra euro to avoid an uphill walk in the heat and also to allay any anxiety associated with not being quite certain where exactly the bus stop for Eze might be. In the afternoon, we walked back from the bus stop to the ship, a pleasant downhill stroll

A local tried to convince us that we were in the wrong place to catch the 112 bus but we checked in the cafe and were reassured we were in the correct place.

Total transportation cost: 5 Euro round trip.

Hi wehavigfunyet, we are planning on catching the 112 bus to Eze at 9:55 in a couple of weeks. Were you on the Magic? What time did you dock? Did you have plenty of time to get up to where you catch the 112 bus? This is the 1st time I have heard about being able to take then number 2 city bus up to Cremaillere stop. Where did you catch that bus at? How often does that bus run? Sorry forms many questions... Thanks, rlyans

We were on the Noordam. We docked around 8 and the ship sailed off at 5. We got off the ship around 8:30 and had plenty of time to get up to the bus stop. We were actually quite early for the 112 bus, which arrived late.

On another thread, someone used the example of the docking area as a clock, with the ship docking at 6:00 and the horseshoe-shaped marina ending at 12:00. As you walk clockwise along the dock, you will go through an enclosed area with the boats on the right side and restaurants and other buildings on your left. When you get to 8:00 or 9:00 [this is way before you get to the spot where the water taxi pulls in], the marina finally opens up and you will see a main road. Crossing the street, you will see a bus shelter. Have a seat, consult the route schedules, and wait for the #2 Monaco bus, which comes quite frequently. A lot of other buses stop there. Just ask the driver to make sure you're headed the right way if you need additional assurance.

The staff in the tourist information booth just after we got off the ship told us about the #2 bus. They also gave us a schedule of the buses running between Monaco and Eze throughout the day.

If you have time, you might want to try to stop for a drink at the Chevre d'Or in Eze - expensive but a lovely view. Lunch reservations there are usually booked up weeks in advance, and there is probably not enough time to enjoy lunch there fully if you have to catch the 2:40 bus back, but having a drink and a snack was very pleasant.

We also found the cemetery next to the church quite interesting, as we had not seen graves decorated with elaborated porcelain flower arrangements and photos before.

By the way, the transportation cost for the day was 3 euros, not 5. I wrote the original post the night we got home and wasn't thinking all that clearly. Have fun.

Thanks are wehavingfunyet, I printed out your directions and we will stop at the information booth when we get there. We are supposed to be able to be in Monaco 9am to 8pm so we have a good long day. But getting off the at 9am and getting to the 112 bus by 9:55 will be close.... Hope we can get off a little early.. Thanks again, rlyans

I love details, but I hesitate to give so many because things do change. So be sure to use the websites listed below to update yourself before your trip. :)

1. SHIP --> LA CREMAILLERE:

Walk off the ship, and walk along Quai Antoine 1er (buildings on your left, yachts on your right) to the first intersection. The local Monaco CAM Line 2 stop called "Princess Stephanie Bd Albert 1er" is at the intersection of Quai Antoine 1er and Blvd Albert Ier, just beyond La Racasse restaurant. CAM Line 2 begins service at 6:58am and runs about every 9 minutes throughout the day and costs 1euro, cash, exact change. Note that other lines use this stop. You will stay on the Line 2 bus until you reach the La Cremaillere stop (restaurant with forest green awning, bus bench in front.) Alternatively, La Cremaillere can be easily accessed by walking. From the casino fountains, cross Ave de la Costa and go straight ahead onto Ave Saint Michael. Just a few steps and you will make the first right onto Rue des Iris -- the restaurant is just ahead on the opposite side of Bd Princesse Caroline.

2. LA CREMAILLERE - EZE VILLAGE

Regional Ligne d'Azure lines Bus #112 to Eze Village departs La Cremaillere (partial schedule) 8 am and 9:45, 11:25, 1:20, 3:15.and takes 15 minutes to get to the village.

3. RETURN

The bus returns to Monaco from Eze at (partial schedule) 9:20 , 11:00, 12:50, 2:35, 4:30) and takes 15 minutes to get back. On the return, you may prefer to get out at Plc St. Devote – it’s a short walk back to the pier from here.

4. ALTERNATIVES:

a. From Place d’Armes, take bus #100 (direction Nice) to the bust stop immediately in front of Eze Gare (sur du Mare) train station. Transfer to bus #83. Bus #83 will travel between Eze Gare and Eze Village.

b. From the Monaco Gare, take the train to Eze Gare (sur du Mare) train station. Transfer to the bus immediately in front of the station. Bus #83 will travel between Eze Gare and Eze Village.

c. Some combination of the three methods may work best for your schedule, and going/returning by two different methods gives different views to enjoy. Recheck websites for the latest route maps and timetables before you leave home.
