How long before leaving do you get information

We are leaving in three weeks for a two week cruise with Silversea. To date, we have had nothing from Silversea about the cruise, other than a form to fill in (in January). Is this normal? I ask because I also have a cruise booked with Seabourn for May, and I have already had a glossy brochure with information about the ship and the cruise.

you should be getting it within the next few days as it usually goes through your t.a. first who checks it and then sends it to you.I know that my trip is on the 17th of March and I will be getting my docs tommorow.

I would check to see if they received the form you filled out in January--if not you can do it on line! They will not issue anything till they have passport info, and they may not have it! Three weeks is getting pretty close--we have always had our tickets and info package before that! Don

We got ours a week before telling us we needed yellow fever injections, or we could not board. We checked and we did not need them.

Hope you enjoy it more than we did, we went on the Silverwind, never again!

I wouldn't blame Silversea;Iwould blame your T.A.

I'm also interested in what you did not like about Silver Wind. Did you sail before or after the recent renovations?

I did 20+ days at the beginning of the year."...we went on the Silverwind, never again." I'll echo that. What a difference to the Whisper!

Hi Alipius

Did u have problems on the Silver Wind too? Similar problems to chickens?

Pls elaborate.

Cheers

Hi Jennifer:

Here's something I posted on the the thread: Roll Call SS SILVER WIND April 7, 2010, under my heading: "Good Luck..."

"Let's look on the positive side.

The maitre'd (Ali from Istanbul) and the sommelier (Marjan from Macedonia) are the best I have ever experienced on 6 Silversea cruises.

As for the Pool Area manager Eduardo: well, there should be a version of him on every ship.

If you are lucky, the Silver Wind Quartet, made up of a Polish group who specialise in 30's and 40's US dance numbers, will be in the Bar of an evening and are worthwhile going on board just to hear.

Jovanka, the happiest fitness instructor you'll ever meet, makes you want to rush to Stretch class of a morning.

And, finally, the Ballroom Dance classes in the Venetian Lounge from 2 to 3 from two of the loveliest people you are ever going to meet, Hayley and Todd, and who definitely will be on board, are immense fun: both for absolute beginners and beyond.

Again looking at it as positively as possible, it may be best to board the ship with an attitude of not expecting too much from virtually any other quarter that I can think of (unless there has been a major change in Crew between January and then)."

Jennifer: I'll give you a ring on Monday (I don't have your mobile no. with me at mo) with details.

I've always done my own air arrangements, but this summer we're using Silversea's air package. I'll have to make my own arrangements to fly to the "gateway city". My question is, if you only get your air schedule a week or two before departure, how do you handle scrambling to get reservations to get to the gateway city?

I'll be calling Silversea about this (my TA is not that great), but I'd really appreciate any advice you folks could give.

(And yes, the TA is getting fired)

We're scheduled on a June 5 sailing on Silver Spirit. We recevied our airline confirmations and seats this weekend via our travel agent. This was with their current airfare package. Your travel agent should have done this already. I would stay on top of them until you receive. You're spending a lot of money and these are full service travel agents that book Silversea Cruises. Just my 2 cents.
