VaBeachCruisers897 Posted February 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2010 Is there any beach near the cruise port or a short cab away? Not really looking for the best beach on the island. Just a nice beach.

sharks48 Posted April 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2010 From what I gathered in doing research for our cruise stop in Dominica a couple of years ago, the island isn't really known for its beaches. Didn't see anything close to the port or read of any close to the port. The hills and mountains are pretty much "right there", so there's not a lot of room for beach! We arranged with Wacky Rollers to do the canopy/zipline tour [not offered through the ship we were on] and loved it. But it's pretty intense unless you're big into adventure already. [That said, I'm no spring chicken - although I AM a chicken! - and not a "work-out" person - and I really enjoyed the challenge.]
a3593 Posted April 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2010 Our guide Beno, (http://www.benonaturetours.com/) Took us to a black sand beach not too far from the ship, but like the other person said, Dominica isnt known for beaches.
rcprncss Posted April 21, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2010 I have to agree there are not really nice beaches in Dominica. I have been there twice, first time went to Mero Beach along with Emerald Pool and Trifilgar Falls. Mero Beach is just not worth going to. I would suggest taking a tour and visiting one of the Falls. :)
