Avalon european splendor

We are taking the Avalon trip Vienna to Amsterdam this summer. Does anyone who has been on this trip know what excursion from Vienna and from Passau do they offer? Do the offer a side trip to Salzberg from Passau?

I'm pretty sure that is the cruise that my dh has chosen for our first river cruise. Opposite direction tho. I'll sure be anxious to hear your feelings when you return.

My dh has finally decided that the Avalon's, (European Splendor) Amsterdam to Vienna itinerary and pricing is what he wants to do in Sept.

 

My question, we do want to spend one or two days pre cruise in Amsterdam. Since I'll be in charge of picking hotels, I am lost on where in Amsterdam the hotel should be located in order for us to walk the streets and canals just taking in the atmopsphere. Anyone have any recs for Amsterdam?

 

As for post cruise in Vienna, I can sort of figure it out on Trip advisor as they refer to the city central area. But recs would be appreciated.

We took Avalons pre 2 day package.The price was very reasonble and they pick u up at the airport. We are staying in The Intercontinental in Vienna and am flying straight home from Amsterdam.

Thanks for the hotel info. I meant to post that part of my ? as a new thread. Yes, we are looking at the avalons hotel packages as compared to booking on our own, which we generally like to do.

We where going to book our own.We have Hilton points but the weekend we had to book all the hilson hotels where booked for a convention.

There wher no bargins as far as hotels in Vienna.
