Coolcruise02 Posted January 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2005 I read it's a 15 min ride. How much is it and how often does it leave?
pomliane Posted January 24, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2005 the price is 7 € for a round-trip. From Fort-de-France, you have shuttles from 6h45 am to 20h00 every 20 or 30 min (depends on the rush hour). Shuttles going to Pointe du Bout are named Somatour but you can also use another Company Madinina Tour.

superdave69 Posted February 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 8, 2005 Is the shuttle within walking distance of the pier?
Coolcruise02 Posted February 9, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted February 9, 2005 The way I understand it.........you take a $3.00pp shuttle into town and catch the ferry for $6.00pp. :)
Coolcruise02 Posted March 25, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted March 25, 2005 Now that we are back I will add to this post. The cost was $6.00 for the ferry and save your receipt as that price is for round trip. Also, you do not purchase tickets on the pier, you pay an attendant after the ferry sails. It is a beautiful trip and Pointe du Bout is beautiful. :)
cindygad Posted March 29, 2005 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2005 What did you do in Pointe du Bout? Is the snorkeling any good there? How long did it take to get there? Thanks Cindy
Coolcruise02 Posted March 30, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted March 30, 2005 The ferry ride is 15-20 minutes. It is a beautiful beach area. We did snorkel around a rocky area. After you get off the ferry there is a public path to the right. When you get to the beach turn to the right and go to the end of the beach. That is where we snorkeled. Don't let all the "resort signs" stop you, the beach is public. You may have to pay to use a lounge chair, but we didn't.
dean45 Posted July 16, 2005 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2005 Is there any shopping in Pointe du Bout or is it strictly beaching? How are the shops when you get off the cruise ship before getting on the ferry? Have you been to the park - is it within walking distance?
Coolcruise02 Posted July 18, 2005 Author #13 Share Posted July 18, 2005 Yes, there are some nice little shops in Pointe du Bout. When you get off the ferry you will see them straight ahead. There are also restaurants. It seems to me some of the shops closed for lunch, but I'm not sure of the time. We did not do any shopping in Fort de France. It did not look appealing and we heard they were not friendly. We also had a hard time getting a taxi when we got back from the ferry so we walked back to the ship (about 15 min walk) and went thru a small market set up in a park on your way back.
