Driving around Cozumel

If you have never driven in Mexico or Cozumel before it can be a bit of an eye opener. If you are planning on drinking and driving I would recommend that you rent a car and driver for the day. It will run you about $20 and hour and will allow you to enjoy yourself without worring about an accident or ending up in a Mexican jail. Special places: anywhere on the East side. Be safe.

Having rental reservations is not a bad idea, especially if you are there during high season. Summer is low season, so you could probably just walk off the ship and get a vehicle, but you'll have to negotiate the price. I prefer to reserve ahead of time and know for certain what price I'll be paying.

I liked renting from Avis thru http://www.cozumelinsider.com

Also, get the cozumel map from http://www.cancunmap.com
