is there an iron in the room or is one available?

No iron in the cabins, and the cruiseline prohibits passengers to bring irons onboard, because they are a serious fire hazard. Pressing service is available onboard for a fee.

can you take sodas on board?

You sure can - as much as you can stand to carry.

is there a fridge or mini bar in the cabin?

This depends on what category cabin you have booked. If you are in a standard type cabin the answer is no. If you are in a suite the answer is yes to the fridge. If you are in an owners suite the answer is yes to both.

we have a group of 11- will we be able to sit together for dinner?

With a little planning you'll have no problem at all. Dining is Freestyle, so don't expect to show up at a dining room at peak times and be seated immediately with a group that large. It would benefit you greatly to meet with the Maitre'd and or the Dining Manager on day one, and work out some plans for dining with your group.

any help someone can provide is appreciated!!

Read through the past posts -most specifically read GregInCharlotte's recent review - it's in three parts here, and is very informative and quite complete.

If you have other specific questions, post them here and the gang will surely answer!

Happy Sailing! :D

We were in a category CC outside and did have a fridge. It didn't get very cold though. We adjusted the thermostat in it as high as we could but just couldn't get our water bottles or soda, which we brought on board with us, ice cold.

Bring your own iron with you. I always bring my travel iron with me. There are ironing boards located in the right desk drawer that pull out.

With large groups that wish to make reservations, you have a choice of usually 5:30 or 8:00. If you just show up at any other time, you might have to wait. I would make the reservation if I were you. Go for the 8:00 so you can enjoy the islands and sail aways!

Have a great cruise!

The fridge in your room will all depend on what room you have. My son and I both had inside superior cabins, his was cabin #3035 and ours was #3001. We did not have a fridge, but they did. We had an empty cabinet where the fridge was supposed to go. Maybe if they break they just don't replace them. I don't think there is a rhyme or reason for which cabins have refrigerators. There was an ironing board in the drawer, and I wouldn't think they would have the ironing board if they didn't expect you to bring an iron. We took lots of soft drinks with us and just carried them on with us.

on bringing irons or not, but it's my understanding that only the older cabins have the ironing boards... irons are against NCL's rules (again, I have no opinion) the cabins that were added when they stretched the ship do not have the ironing boards, they just left the ones already there, there...

I'm hoping that all superiors have the fridges, and that they work... after the refurbishment:D

Rebsar -

Yep, I've got it bad. I just can't stay away. No we don't have another cruise planned. We are going on a land trip to Italy in September. We spent a week in Cozumel this past August with tablemates we had on a cruise several years ago. We all became great friends and plan a get together somewhere every year. Cozumel was great. We spent several nights at Carlos and Charlies. e-mail me teresa_lowman@hotmail.com and I'll tell you where we stayed.

When did you go? I'm right next to where you were on the Majesty deck... did you have any problems with a smoke smell, or casino noise? I've only been on her once, and we had an outside , 870... that didn't have a fridge, but it was a regular.

I REALLY want a fridge, but I'll be fine without one as well... I did call and once they told me they didn't know, once they told me it did, and once they told me it didn't... so it averages out to a I don't know, lol:rolleyes:

Thanks for your input on the room location! I appreciate it!:)

Cabin 838 is the cabin we had. It had fridge and ironing board and was one of the cabins added in the stretch. When they did the stretch, they still put in the same type of furniture/cabinetry as all the other cabins had. Thus, the reason they have ironing boards in the drawers.

We were told several different opinions on the fridge too, yes there is, no there isn't. When we got there, yes we did have one!

The only problem I could forsee would be "where to put it". The cabins being rather small, you might discover that a cooler is somewhat in-the-way. Perhaps you could simply plop a few sodas into the ice bucket, and rotate them as you use them up? Or, you could bring a smaller six-pack sized cooler - that would fit under the desk near the wastepaper basket, I think.

We got this great fold-up cooler that will hold a 12-pack -- folds up to smaller than the size of a briefcase (to carry on board) then opens up -- with a pull-out handle and wheels on the bottom, no less -- we'll park that under the desk area or in the bathroom (in case it leaks  ) and fill it with soda!

I agree, I will use the fold-up variety. I have one that is held flat with velcro straps. When you unleash it, it unfolds into a decent-size cooler. If we are not using it, it won't take up much room. I don't want to sink sodas into the ice bucket because I may want clean ice for my drinks.

Wouldn't a medium sized cooler fit under that narrow shelf that runs along the wall under the bathroom vanity? I kept all the souvenir glasses I accumulated on that shelf after I rinsed them out, I think there might be space for a cooler there though, so then it wouldn't take up valuable shower space, but would still be on tile if it leaked...

I'm actually bringing 3 over the door shoe holders... one for both sides of the bathroom door, and one for cabin door... they work great for rolled up t-shirts, bathing suits and underwear since there's little convenient drawer space... just a thought.

Has anyone stayed in one of these? They are category CC and I was wondering if they had refrigerators? When I asked the response was "probably, most of the cabins in that category do..."

My group is also on the March 12 sailing out of Charleston, driving down from Maryland. Anyone have any suggestions for a clean, low price motel near the pier?

Was also wondering if anyone has stayed in one of the owner's suites? Are they really worth the price difference? We were all trying to stay together, (7 people -all adults, only one couple) but are now thinking that if we had one larger private space where we could gather it might be better....

Any other info would be most appreciated as well

Thanks in advance for any info you may be able to supply

Cheryl

This came from NCL's web site. I couldn't get the other two staterooms to come up but I would presume they're all the same...

The owner's suites are very nice, but really only room for three or four people (to sleep), so you certainly couldn't have all 7 of you staying in that stateroom. Nice place to entertain though! :D

Where on the site do you find this information?

Thanks

Never mind, figured it out, just try to book a new one, and modify URL to show cabin number.
