Loved the review. Can you comment on the food, everywhere else, I know you said the MDR food was good what about lunch and breakfast, my husband loves to eat and is always asking about the review of the food!!!!

I'm glad you liked the review!

We ate breakfast in the buffet every morning and it was set up like scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, grits, oatmeal and the days would rotate pancakes and french toast and they'd rotate little roasted potatoes and circular round potato tot things. Also they had lots of fruit, cereal, danishes, croissants and they did have an omelet station.

For lunch they had the pizzeria (which was actually open 24 hours) and the sandwich station I mentioned earlier. Each day they had a different theme like italian, american, mexican, etc... For American they had pretty good fried chicken and these corn stuffed corn bread things. They were very good! They also had a variety of different veggie and pasta salads as well. Outside on the Lido deck they had the Mongolian buffet, which I never ate at because I always drifted elsewhere. I can tell you that there was a line so there much have been many fans of it! On the other side there was a grill with burgers and hot dogs and fries and I thought the fries were a bit hard and cool but that could have been the timing.

Hidden in a corner on the Promenade outside of the casino there was the sushi bar and we'd get some before dinner as a little appetizer. It was very good and quick service. If there is a line, it doesnt last long so dont let that deter you!

And we did get room service one night. We ordered some chicken jalapeno tomato wrap and a blt (dont ask, I was craving one!) and they were both very good and came quickly. They came with chips but you can get potato salad if you want.

I think that's all I can think of! :-)

THANKS!!!!!

We sail on her in 2 Days :D Can't wait.

How did your itinerary break down?

Our itinerary broke down as such:

Monday- Mobile

Tuesday- At Sea

Wed- Calica 7-5pm

Thur- Cozumel 8-6pm

Friday- At Sea

Sat- They made us get off the boat!! Selfish!!

We were originally planned Cozumel first but there were a lot of boats in port that day so it was switched in December, I think.

There is a site you can check out what boats are in port when you visit the stops. Its www.cruisett.com.

Great Review! I've been looking for a while and this is the first good ...I mean great review I've seen. We have only cruised one other time (last year) and are looking forward to cruising the Fantasy out of Charleston in June. Can't believe we passed on cruising until our early thirties :). Question... I've heard the pool/deck area is extremely crowded. How do you think it will be in the summer when you can actually enjoy the sun and the kids are out of school?

Now if you like karaoke, this was the place to be. Cat's Lounge hosted karaoke three nights, I think. One day it was closed for a Camp Carnival party of some sorts and I thought it was cute when I walked by to look in and see a bunch of little kids all doing the Cha Cha Slide and having a blast. I guess Carnival does allow the kids some fun activities, which seems pretty good for them.

Anyway, here is the Cat's Lounge:

My son and I went here a couple of times, to listen to Music Manila..a real good band!!

The Forum Lounge, past the Majestic Bar, is also a place they had karaoke and the art auctions.

One night they had a Carnival crew party in the Forum Lounge and it was closed to guests, but you could still hear them having a good time. I'm glad they had some fun activities because I tell you... they are all working so hard. Always cleaning, painting, sweeping, etc... and I found everyone to be incredibly friendly too.

Here is a pic of the cigar bar, Majestic Bar. Its at the end of the Promenade and you have to go through it to get to Camp Carnival. Hmmm... go through the cigar bar to get to the kid zone... seemed odd but I didnt design it. :-)

I remember a few times we sat here and checked out some basketball

(on that tv)and watched the ocean while waiting on my wife to get ready for dinner.

My sons favorite bartender worked here.

ok, he was only 16, so it was just coke on the rocks or the occasional Mr Pibb.;)

Thanks for some really great memories.:D

Like the others..I wonder why the funnel is faded so bad:confused:

That sounds wonderful, I read it to my husband and now he is even more excitied to go!! It's good to hear something good about the food, when lately all you read is complaining and I know its not easy to feed 2000 people so sometimes I just think that's what it is....complaining......everything cant be that bad!!!! The adults only place looks so inviting, cant wait to plop in one of those chairs!!

I noticed the faded funnel while we were docked in Cozumel next to the Inspiration on Feb. 20th. The Inspiration's funnel was brightly painted and I wondered why the funnel on the Fantasy would look faded so soon after being renovated. Odd.

Hasn't the Inspiration just come out of dry dock a week or two ago? Guessing she would have got painted then. Fantasy was in dry dock when my OH was out working on the Destiny and Triumph, which would have been about September 2008 time. If that's the last time the Fantasy got a lick of paint on her funnel, I'm not surprised it's that faded. Sun is never friendly to red paint! :D

Thanks so much for the review. My family is going on our first cruise April 1st on Fantasy. The pictures were awesome!

You're welcome! I'm glad everyone is enjoying the pictures.

I am still working on scanning the Capers. My scanner at home is giving me woes and then the one at work today decided to die. Figures! I'll put them up as soon as I'm over the scanner drama. :)

Do you know if you could order bottles of liquor from room service?

I have ordered from bon voyage but it will not be delivered until the 2nd night and if I can get it from room service I will cancell the order from bon voyage.

Thanks!

Great Review! Was good to See Hennie is still on the ship! Not sure if he was the Cruise Director or the Asst. CD. He worked with me for months last year to put together my proposal to my fiance' on the stage during Showcase of the stars. We have become pretty good friends since then :)

Thanks for the great thorough review & pics!! We are sailing on the Fantasy tomorrow & are staying 2 doors down from your (the OP's) cabin so that sounds like a great location. I was a bit worried about the size of the bathroom but your pics put my mind at ease :D

Oh, I'm sorry but I dont remember. I'm wondering though about the bottle of liquor thing. I know you can buy bottles of liquor from the shop but they keep it until the last night of the cruise so I'm not sure if you can get any any sooner.

Sorry I cant be more help!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying the review.

For you future cruisers on the Fantasy who are anxiously awaiting your departure, I feel your excitement!!!

Any other tidbits...hmmm...

I recommend going to the passenger talent show. We were lucky enough to have these two moms that rapped a song about being moms on a cruise and it was hilarious! Hopefully all these talent shows are that entertaining.

If there are desserts or something at dinner that you wished you would have gotten, go up to the Lido buffet later in the night and they usually have those items there. We got to do some sampling of desserts later.

Also, if you take the elevators or stairs to Lido deck, go to the port side of the ship out of the doors to the outside deck. No one is ever out here and there is a bench and its nice to sit out there alone and look over into the water. You can also get there by being by the Lido pool and walking towards the outdoor bars, going behind the bar and out the doors. See, when you're up on the Lido deck, the walls arent open. There are glass windows so you cant really see outside. When you're on the floor above the Lido deck, the lifeboats are in your way and its hard to see the water. When you go to this little area, you're still outside to enjoy the sea and your view isnt obstructed by boats. We just liked to sit out there in the evenings and it was very peaceful.

Which date in June? We have a roll call started for the June 5th sailing if you are interested. :)

I think it June the 11th. We have kids ourself (5 and 10) and the last cruise we went on had hardly any kids (which btw...was GREAT!), but I've never been on a cruise when school was out....just curious as to how many of those lil boogers will be on there :)

We made the mistake of going during Mardi Gras week--did not know the schools were out.The ship was "way" crowded and it seemed as though there must have been around 800-1000 kids on board. If you have visions of using the pool. mini golf, getting a good seat for a show, or eating up top; I would get them out of my mind ! I must say that most of the kids were better behaved than the "who dattin" adults."Who Dat" chants during Valentines dinner were not what I expected--it was murderous for a Panthers fan.

Have a good time anyway and make darn sure to find the Serinity Deck.

Thank you so much for the review. We are considering the Fantasy out of Charleston in the fall. We are actually looking into E83! We sailed the sensation last November. We love the Fantasy class ships and especially the Empress deck, because it is so close to everything and easy to get off the ship! We were in E103 on Sensation...I was worried that E83 might be too close to the Grand Atrium, so your post helped ease my mind. Thanks again!
