Dress at Specialty Restaurants on Formal Nights?

Can my husband get away with a dress shirt, tie, and nice pants at the Italian Specialty Restaurant on Formal nights -or does he need to wear a jacket to get seated?

Please advise.

Specialty restaurants are upscale casual even on formal nights. He will fit in with what he intends to wear. I wore black slacks, white shirt and black sweater on formal nights in both Sabatini's and the Crown Grill with no problem on our last cruise on the Ruby. I plan on doing the same on our upcoming Alaska cruise on the Golden..

Even just a long sleeve dress shirt would be acceptable. The Princess guidelines indicate casual all the time in the Specialty restaurants.

The usual onboard dress code, such as one would find at an upscale landside resort. Appropriate attire includes skirts/dresses, slacks, and sweaters or blouses for ladies and pants and open-neck shirts for men. A jacket and tie is optional.

 

Formal

Onboard dress code for specially designated formal nights. Appropriate attire includes evening gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies; and tuxedos, slacks with a dinner jacket, or suits for men.
