barberesr Posted March 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2010 Does anyone have an opinion on watershoes?
MargaritaPlease Posted March 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2010 I like the blue ones. What are you asking? They work well for wading in streams and rivers or entering the water on rocky beaches. They're lousy for walking any distance. They're main advantages are that they are lightweight and they dry quickly - otherwise, an old pair of sneakers or a pair of closed-toed sandals (Teva's for example) offers the same functionality. berkyvdr Posted March 2, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2010 I am a very recent convert to crocs for walking on the beach and activities where your feet might get wet. I find it much easier to rinse the sand out of them than out of water shoes or tevas. These tend to have velcro and other materials to which the sand sticks, ensuring sand in one's luggage forever. Crocs do have a small bit of support, are lightweight, and come in lots of different colours and a number of different syles, many of which are are not very flattering. I could not walk in them all day, but many do (notably medical personnel who like to be able to rinse the hospital fluids off). They are more expensive than water shoes. sunandsnow Posted March 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2010 We love our Teva's. Comfortable in and out of the water. Made to last.
Islandbear Posted March 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2010  What is the question? I bring water shoes because my family likes to snorkel and they help getting over the rocks down to the beach. But, if you are packing light, go with tennis shoes. They are more versatile. barberesr Posted March 3, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted March 3, 2010 I have seen water shoes for $6 and some for $80. I wonder if anyone knows what you need. I imagine the $80 ones have better support for walking on the beach when not in the water.
jtsbusiness Posted March 7, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2010 When touring inland with a tour operator, we are told to bring water shoes for walking down the gorge and going through the river. I too wondered which would be the best type of shoe to bring. Any suggestions?
scorpluvsdolphins Posted March 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2010 I dive and have an extra pair of dive boots that I wear in my fins. I have walked around a remote island with branches and uneven ground and right in the water. Try sierra trade dot com as I go some for less than $15 and they will last. terri
