I think <Blank> is the <blank> of cruise lines. . .

I'm not a first time curiser but I am humbled by the expertise and experience of those on these boards. I would appriciate a little help explaining the difference between cruise lines. Without saying this is "better" or "more upscale" or using other such value judgements. Can you help clarify differences by using comparisons? I'll start. . .

I think Carnival is the "Las Vegas" of Cruise lines.. . .

now, your turn. . . .

I think <Blank> is the "Indiana Jones" of cruise lines.

I think <Blank> is the "club med" of cruise lines.

I think <Blank> is the "health spa" of cruise lines.

etc. Make up your own. I think you get the idea.:D

Thanks

I've been on just about every cruise line out there so here are my impressions.

RCCI is for adventurous types who love things like wave runners, rock climbing etc. It's also for multi-generational cruisers.

Carnival is for families and those who want a fun time.

HAL is for those who want an upscale experience with an older clientele.

NCL is for those who want to dine anytime and for those who don't want to dress up formally. While they do still have formal nights, it's not required to bring any dressy clothes.

Disney is for kids, kids and more kids and adults who love the whole Disney experience. It's not for anyone who likes casinos---they don't have them.

Costa is for those who don't want to spend a lot of money and for those who want a more European cruise experience.

MSC is also for those who want a more European type cruise, and like Costa, won't mind everything done in five languages.

Regent is for those who don't mind paying a lot and for those who want the largest cabins in the industry.

Celebrity is for those who want a more upscale cruise without the glitz or neon of other lines. They want better food and service and a more laid back experience.

Princess---see Celebrity's note.

Crystal is for those who have big bucks and love the old time style of cruising, formal nights where most of the men are in tuxes and ladies who put on the ritz. They go on Crystal because of the excellent food, service and their exotic itineraries.

Silversea and Seabourn are for those who want small ships, luxury throughout, formality, attention to detail and a nearly all inclusive experience. They also want excellent food and service.
