wentworth Posted March 5, 2010 #26 Share Posted March 5, 2010 Our PVP checks the military rate each time we book. On our last cruise, (last month) the past guest rate was better than the military rate. I'm not real comfortable with the ES rates. Don't like all the stipulations that go with it. jonbgd Posted March 5, 2010 #27 Share Posted March 5, 2010 Once you send your DD-214, it is then linked to your Past Guest #, and there is no need to send in each time. I agree one time only My Pvp linked it years ago and eveytime I book he looks at whatever discount will give me the best balcony sometimes it is Military and and some times past guest but he always lets me know what is the best RCCL you have to show your dd214 every time you use the discount BTW there is a code for miltary and it does work occasionally on Carnival
Scootch Posted March 7, 2010 #28 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Ok fellow CC'ers I have a good friend at work that is asking me to help research cruises for her and her family. Her husband is retired Military and they have 4 boys, so they will need adjoining cabins. How do you get the military discount? Is there a code you put in? Or is it just a general percentage of total cost? Any help you can give me would be helpful. I did a search and came up blank, and called a cruise specialist at Carnival and she has no idea how to do it online, she can do it when she books, but can't give me any other info. Please help!!! Cheers, Carole My husband is a Reservist and all we have had to do is give a copy of his Military ID and his drivers license to our TA and she send to Carnival. The discount is very attractive!!! God Bless CCL for respecting the Military! RCCL says they offer a Military discount but it is only a few $.
RWolver672 Posted March 7, 2010 #29 Share Posted March 7, 2010 We are using the Military discount for our up-coming Dream cruise. We got 10% off per person and could use it for up to and including three cabins.
smileyrnc Posted March 7, 2010 #30 Share Posted March 7, 2010 Hi! I just booked our first cruise with a military rate. It was super easy and cheaper than anything else I could find since I couldn't do early saver (we leave in 5 weeks!) I did what others suggested and googled military rates for cruises. Found a site that showed me the military rates(just make sure you check military in the seach box) Not all cabins qualify, I ended up with an obstructed balcony for a great price! Then I just called Carnival and booked making sure the price was the same. All I needed to do was fax my DH's DD214 with our names , dates and booking number!
