Does anyone know how late the shops are open? Is it reasonable to enjoy the sun, go back get cleaned up and head out for some shoping in the evening? thanks! I am not sure about the shops being open at night, as August is considered a slow month for tourism, but there is a casino in Philipsburg and several wonderful restaurants that would be open. You could also go on a sunset cruise or a sunset dinner cruise.

L_T Posted March 8, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2010 Last month the Front Street shops in Philipsburg closed by 6:00pm, or even before depending on business.
The Big Booper Posted March 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2010 Front Street will be shut down by 6 PM. The various stores at the pier will stay open later when a ship is in. We have been on a ship stopping from Noon-9PM, gotten back to the pier at 6, and spent an hour in the various stores. The day you are there check with the pier stores as to when they will close that day.

Great advice re: sunset cruise and restaurants, but note that there are four casinos along Front Street, and a fifth available with a 5 minute taxi ride. gary

gtaylor Posted December 15, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 15, 2013 Do you have to take a taxi downtown? If so how much is it? You can walk in twenty minutes or so, or take the Water Taxi for $5 one way or for $7 you can get an all day pass. (click) I think that a land taxi is about $3 per person to downtown. The Water Taxi is a great photo-op. gary
gtaylor Posted December 15, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 15, 2013 If you want jewelry, I have a contact that may stay open just for you past the 6 PM witching hour, if interested let me know. ;) I think that the few jewelry shops at the Cruise Facility may remain open until the last ship departs, but if you are looking for a $ four or five figure jewelry purchase, I can pretty much guarantee having a shop open for your purchase. Let me know. gary
