Sailaway from Quebec -silly question

We're booked on the Crown sailing out of Quebec City 27 September. The first night is overnight in Quebec. What will the first night be like? Usually there's a Sailaway party on deck and the dinner in the MDR is the "Sailaway Dinner." But we're not sailing!! Will there be something else special on deck? A "Hang around for a while" party? :D:D Presumably the casino will not open that evening either, since we'll be in port.

Anyone done this itinerary and can clue us in? Curious minds want to know - even if it is silly.

Shalom, Andy.

We did a Montreal departure on the Regal some years ago which had an overnight in Montreal before departing the next evening. It is too bad they no longer depart from Montreal, but I understand the newer ships have too deep a draft to make it up there.

Nothing special happen that first evening (Montreal overnight).

It was nice having the extra time (especially the evening time) to tour around Montreal. Quebec is a city I would enjoy an overnight in. We did depart late (after dark) so I got some great night time pictures of Château Frontenac.

Like the above post I was on the Regal with the first night in Montreal. As I recall the dinning was not set time for the first night and the entertainment was typical first night - mostly welcome aboard combined with sales pitches and some entertainment. Shops and casino will be closed. The ship docks very close to the historic area in Quebec. French will be the main lanuage but English is spoken by those in the tourist areas. We sailed on Oc 1. Most days were in low 70'sF but the day at sea out on the open Gulf of St Lawrence was windy and qite cool.

Thanks, and thanks to chasetf as well, for the information. I just wanted to get a mindset before we went. Most likely we will need the first day to wind down from our long trip -12 hours from here to North America, and then a short flight from Toronto or Montreal to Quebec - even if we fly in the day before. We'll plan our sightseeing for the second day.

As far as French is concerned, Je parle assez bien le Francais, bien que DW n'a. Though it's Parisian and not Canadian French. Learned at college and it's a little rusty, but not forgotten. In Paris a few years back, we got by quite well with random waiters, taxi drivers and shopkeepers..

Since we both lived much of our lives in the New York metro area, we're well prepared for what the weather is likely to be at that time of the year.

Shalom, Andy.
