They had the ice cream machine hostage! That would not have stopped my DH quest for ice cream cone. Nice photos of ship at night, your camera exposure really picked up glowing blue of stair lights.

I see now I know the time I can get a deck chair! See any books laid out at that time of night "while they were away getting something to eat"?? :D

i would set the camera up on a tripod and leave the lens open for a bit. if i had looked i probably could have spotted a couple chair hogs!

DAY 5, ST. KITTS

back to the ports again. so in st. lucia the plan was to just grab a taxi and head to friars bay beach for snorkeling. i had done alot of research and found that friars beach had the best snorkeling, but not many amenities (sp?). but i was ok with that beacuase this was purely picked for snorkeling. but when we got off the ship, the taxi guy suggested cockleshell beach. i told him i wanted to snorkel, and he said there is very good snorkeling there plus a bar and all that. i hesitated a bit because i knew where i wanted to go for snorkeling, but i also remembered the little venture back at barbados that the taxi guy warned us about. so i sided with the taxi and we got in a bus with about ten others and headed to cockleshell.

cockleshell is the beach that has the reggae beach bar. it was a ctually pretty cool, the music was not blaring and obnoxious, it was just in the background. we were some of the first there so we were able to get loungers right by the water. the beach was nice, but we have been at better for sure. there was seaweed on the shore, but not a big deal, you can see it in the pics. and the snorkeling was just o.k. i did see about ten lobsters, so that made it a great snorkel trip because i havent seen lobster in the caribbean yet, so that was very cool.

we got the loungers for around 5 bucks each, maybe 10, i'm not sure. then waiters will come around to get you drinks or food. we ended up having lunch there on the beach and it was very good, but eat quickly because the yellow jackets will come out quickly and swarm your plate. the owners dog is on the beach chasing a frisbee, or whatever you throw in the water, so it was pretty low key on the beach and very relaxing.

there was this guy walking around with a little monkey on his shoulder, and you could get 4 pics with it for 5 bucks. so i got some because i love those little creatures. the capers on the ship tell you to stay away from the monkeys, but i love monkeys!

you can rent snorkel gear there, and it probably would have been better for snorkeling, but those storms from the north were causing trouble in the caribbean all week. oh, and it took anout 15 minutes to get from the port to the beach and i think it was 6-8 bucks per person to take a cab.

Just read your review and it's great thanks.

We saw the same guy in San Juan in September with the same story. We didn't give him any money since we thought he was scamming and apparently he is making a good living doing that. We'll have to look for him again if we get back to San Juan.

Thanks again for the review. We're thinking about doing this cruise in September.

after snorkeling, eating, and swimming, we would meet our driver at 3:00 along with the rest of the people that had traveled with us. now this bunch defines obnoxious drunks. we again sat in the front, but these women were so obnoxious that even the driver was irritated. there was a group of about 8 people, and even on the bus ride back they opened a bottle of tequila and started passing it around. the thing was, the day before we ran into three of these women as they came back on the ship from st lucia, and they were flat drunk and obnoxious then, and it was the same today. when we were at the beach they were sitting in the water passing around a bottle of rum. now i don't care if you drink and have a good time, but if you can't handle your liquor without being obnoxious to everybody around you, then put down the bottle you drunk. but that's just me.

so we got back to the shopping area and walked around a bit, thenm headed back to the ship. i don't think we did much after that, oh wait, we had a ge t together at joans aft wrap deck that evening. one couple on the trip that was from our original triumph roll call had just gotten married, so we all got together and celebrated in joans room. joan had ordered some etched wine glasses that we all chipped in for, as well as strwaberries and champagne. so we skipped dinner at the mdr this evening and just got a few pizzas from the pizza grille. we hung out there for a couple hours, then we headed back to the room for the night.
hey hugo, hows it going down there? you got another one planned yet?

we could see you and ken when we were coming in

thanks!
Hi Mike loving your review! DW and I have been talking about what to do next but we don't have anything concrete yet. The only thing we've agreed on so far is the port. We want to take one either from Ft. Lauderdale or Miami and it will be in 2011, unless you guys plan anything we might just join you. Been writing to Joan via e-mail and she tells me they're planning something but nothing sure yet. I told her to let me know to see if DW and I join in. Tell Rhonda we said hi and let me know if youre planning anything for the near future.

Excellent review! I started reading before bed last night and finished up this morning. Looking forward to your experience in St. Maarten. We did a S.Caribbean for our honeymoon almost 10 years ago and loved it, but we were worn out. We were talking about doing it again this fall for our anniversary and your review has just about sealed the deal. We are considering doing a B2B so we can enjoy the ship and shows and not be so exhausted. Would this be a good option in your opinion???
