Luggage transfer at SJU to ship?

It's been several years since we last cruised Princess, and policies differ by line and port, I believe. We bought our airfare ourselves, not through the line, and are arriving the day of departure. We are not using transfers to the ship, rather are taking a taxi. Do we tag our luggage before we depart our home airport? Does the cruiseline pickup our luggage and take it to the ship for us, or do we claim it and take it to the ship ourselves?

Claim it at the airport and take it with you in the taxi.

 

I put my tags on while waiting in line at the ship. I think the porters at the ship also have tags that you just write your cabin number on them.

I agree, we put ours on at the pier too.

 

Some put them on before leaving home. We never have. ;)
