Advice on travel to Marigot

We will be visiting St Marten onboard Oasis on the 24 APR cruise. The 4 of us would like to visit Marigot. How long is the taxi ride to Marigot? Any suggestions on what to do there, a good restaurant for lunch? Is it easy to get a taxi back to Phillipsburg and how long is the drive back (assuming more traffic later in the afternoon.)

The 24th is a Saturday and thus a market day in Marigot. Lots happening. You can probably wander around and find a lolo (small stand) that serves up good quick local seafood. But for seated lunches, go to the Marina Royale and find a nice looking place that suits your tastes and budget. Some recommended marina spots include Le Chanticlair and La Petite Auberge de Isles. But there are plenty of other places. Don't expect fast service at any of these places, so just give yourself plenty of time and relax and people watch.
