odd man out Posted March 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2010 I am planning my first cruise. We are booked on the Ryndam for July. I have a lot of questions, most about shore excursions. In Juneau, I would like to go to the Glacier Visitor Center and walk some of the trails. If I book with a tour operator to get there, would I have to stay with the group? If not, would I be required to be back on a specific bus at a specific time for the return trip? I would like the flexibility to plan my visit on my own pace. Is this possible with the tours? If not, what are the transportation options and the costs? Thanks
Yukon Posted March 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2010 Take one of the shuttle buses from the dock ($7-8 each way) and stay as long as you want. No need to pre-book, just walk up to one of the kiosks.

Eqty Posted March 9, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2010 Take one of the shuttle buses from the dock ($7-8 each way) and stay as long as you want. No need to pre-book, just walk up to one of the kiosks. This is exactly what we did. There are plenty of shuttles lined up at the pier to take passengers to the glacier. Once you're there the visitors center has maps of the trails and go at your own pace.
