kentsabode Posted March 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2010 Hi We are booked for the 98 day grand voyage on the Artemis next January. We sailed on her a year ago and loved it, yes she was lookin a little tired in places but overall we had no complaints. I am reading increasing posts of how bad she is now and becoming quite concerned as this is a big trip for us to celebrate retirement. One post said she was going in for refit before the trip but if you look at future cruises there are no spaces for this to happen. I would appreciate any comments.
Single Cruiser Posted March 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2010 She's leaving the fleet in March 2011 after your cruise when she'll go into drydock for her new owners so I seriously doubt they will do any refurb in the next 12mnths!
Scotty Pembroke Dock Posted March 10, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2010 Just done the Panama Canal cruise onboard Artemis P003. She is showing her age in places, but she is still a wonderful ship. My wife and i had a great time onboard her and i am sure you will have a wonderful cruise to.
UK Cruiser Posted May 3, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 3, 2010 Artemis was in dry dock a couple of weeks ago, just before we sailed. They were unable to fix a propulsion problem which led to the cancellation or curtailment of the ports we were due to visit. The lack of information prior to the cruise and on board caused a lot of negative feeling. We were told that the required part for the engine was to be collected on our return to Southampton and was due to be fitted during the following cruise once the ship arrived in Istanbul. Hopefully somebody from the current cruise will be able to tell you if the repair was made, once they arrive home.
feebee_71 Posted May 8, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2010 News from onboard Artemis is that, despite additional repairs carried out in Istanbul, there are still issues with an engine bearing overheating and so the problems with the 4th engine remain and as a consequence, the ship is now not calling at 2 more ports - meaning they have missed 3 in total. Passengers onboard have been offered additional compensation to that originally offered when they were told the ship wouldn't call at Valencia. There are even reports in some of the national papers today (saturday) to say that there is a group of unhappy passengers onboard demanding more than has been offered. Missing our original Panama crossing.
