Which Cruise Port is best for tours to Myan ruins

Which cruise port do I want to make sure my ship visits if I want to visit the Myan ruins? Is it Cozumel, Costa Maya, Cancun, or some other port? Thanks for your help!

In Cancun, you can get several tours: Coba, Chickeni Itza, Tulum, et.al. These are the biggest and most crowded. But you're talking 3 hour plus bus rides to get to any of them.

 

In Cozumel, there are some smaller ruins on the island, but the closest major ruins are in Tulum which is a very long excursion from Cozumel, entailing a ferry ride that can be rough.

 

In Costa Maya there are a couple of ruin sites somewhat nearby, maybe a couple of hours or less away. The tours to these sites tend to be very informative.

 

Belize is the other port where you have access to Mayan Ruins via somewhat long excursions.

 

LSS...despite Tulum being along the shore, most Mayan cities were inland and none are near(under an hour) the site of modern day cruise ports.

In Costa Maya I booked with David and Ivan. We had about a 45 min. bus ride to the site. We stood looking at one pyramid while the guide lectured for 45 min. while a woman who said she was a school teacher kept interrupting and asking questions. Everyone was getting a bit tired of her standing in the sun.

 

I thought what a rip off! One pyramid! Then we walked around to the front to another world! There were over 7 pyramids, some you could climb and see so far away. You could see the remains of a city in what is now jungle. Gorgeous! Guide was very informative.
