Ok, so I have never sailed Carnival and am not sure what to expect in a os suite. What is the differance between this and a standard balcony?

It depends on which ship you will be on. If it's one of the larger ships then there is quite a difference, but not so much on the smaller ships.

 

On the larger ships the suite is about 100 sq ft larger than the standard balcony. The balcony is about twice the size too. And you also get a whirlpool bathtub in the suite. And VIP checkin with the suite :)
