Prince Rupert

Hi,

I am trying to figure out what we will do in each port on our cruise this summer. Prince Rupert is really the only port that has me stumped. I am just not sure what is available to do there. I have tried to do some reading but the books I bought don't say much about Prince Rupert besides giving its history and I haven't found a whole lot on the web either. We will be on NCL and they don't have their excursions for their Alaskan cruises listed yet. Has anybody been there and done something they can recommend? Is this a port that I should book something through NCL for? I usually book my own excursions because they are generally better and cost less. I would appreciate any help I can get for this port. Thanks!

Are you actually going to be stopping there? For a person who posted a similar question a few days ago, it turned out to be only a one-hour stop with no off-ship time. If you are stopping, there's lots to do - check out http://www.explorenorth.com/library/communities/canada/princerupert.html http://www.citytel.net/library/our_town_stuff/99things.html and http://www.tourismprincerupert.com/

Trying to figure out what to do there to. Someone said that they went on a great whale watching excursion out of there. We are thinking about the bear sanctuary excursion. Wish NCL would post there times and costs of excursions. When are you going?? We are on the Spirit leaving Seattle on June 4th.

The excursions for Prince Rupert are posted, just not the times & cost.

I have done whale watch in Juneau with Capt. Larry on previous trips. Last year I did not go with Larry because we had other things scheduled. We did do a whale watch in Prince Rupert booked through NCL Spirit. It was one of the best we have ever done. Book it early. The local family that conducts the tours is fantastic - friendly, informative, and so proud to be able to share their part of the world with you. They served snacks, plenty of water, and even had many pairs of binoculars for your use. If I were stopping in Prince Rupert this year, I'd definitely go again!
