MercedMike Posted March 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2010 There are so many things to see in Egypt. You have to read the boards, consult with your tour company, and then prioritize what YOU want to see. We designed our tour with Egyptian Express to see some of the most common things and also to include some of the lesser visited. It was what we wanted to do. Here is my opinion of things you can make your priority list from: TOP SITES: The pyramids at Giza, the sphinx, and a chance to ride a camel. The Mummy Room at the Egyptian museum OTHER USUAL THINGS TO DO: Felucca ride on the Nile Nile lunch or dinner cruise The Citadel (old city) Mosque visits (fascinating, you really should do at least one) Egyptian museum Tut exhibit and other exhibits Shopping at a high class shop The Khan el Khalili Bazaar Papyrus institute Rug weaving school Sound and light show at the pyramids Inside visit to a pyramid OFF THE BEATEN TRACK The step pyramid at Sakkara Memphis The pyramids at Dashur -- Red Pyramid and Bent Pyramid A mastaba tomb Others will probably have other things to suggest ... you can't do them ALL! Check out our trip report and pictures at http://www.bully4.us/holyland2.html to see the custom tour we designed. Also check out our trip report and pictures of the Cairo portion of a longer land tour at http://www.bully4.us/egyptmain.html . Have a GREAT cruise! Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 19, 2010 Some further thoughts: Don't miss the Solar Boat museum while you are at the pyramids -- wonderful museum; boggles the mind that this wooden boat survived so long in pristine condition. Coptic Cairo -- this is the oldest part of Cairo. There are remains of the old Roman fort, Coptic churches (Egyptian Christians are called Coptics and have a very long history in the country....), and even Jewish synagogues. Good shopping too.
