Are You A Loyal Carnival Cruiser?

Right now we are only cruising with Carnival...based on location, Camp carnival and honestly...trying to get to 10 cruises :)

 

 

I think once we get to 10 cruises, our son will be around 6-7 so at that time we will try the other lines and probably start with RCCL if Disney doesnt have a special going on.

I miss the Bob Dickinson Carnival Cruise lines.

 

I'm not fond of the John Heald Carnival Cruise Lines.

Carnival is the only cruise line we currently sail because of our son with Autism.

 

He is comfortable there and they are wonderful with him. If my child (well...not exactly a child anymore at the age of 18) is happy...I am happy.

 

Although I have been putting out some inquires about Holland America and Princess....I look forward to branching out one day....when our son is ready.

I've only been on Carnival and the Big Red Boat, but I would go with whoever has the best deal as long as they have good programs for the kids and go to places we like. This time, Carnival had the best deal for what I was looking for. Next time, maybe not.

I keep thinking I would like to try other lines and then I talk to people who have tried them. After i talk to them I just keep coming back to Carnival.

The ships may not be as big as RCCL, but we ALWAYS have a great time and never feel like we are being nickle and dimed to death like folks that I talk to that have tried NCL.

 

I look at Carnival as a GREAT vacation for a good price that has never let me down. My daughters 25 and 21 LOVE Carnival because of the night life.

 

So until/if Carnival lets me down I will be a loyal customer. I go Platinum 8/5/2010 and cant wait.

absolutely. I like variety...don't understand cruise line loyalty at all....

 

With prices on the rise do you find yourself searching for the best deals out there?

I have always 'shopped' for my cruises, just as I shop for everything else I purchase...I look for the best deal and try to KNOW what I am buying before I pay for it.

 

I love to cruise.

To me it's the best vacation there is.

I usually travel with Carnival simply because they usually have the best prices. If there are comparable rates with other ships I would try them too.

I also like Carnival,but I don't consider myself a Carnival cheerleader. We have sailed with Carnival (10), RCCL (3) and Princess (3) in the past and we are Platiunm with Carnival, but with the economy what it is today I find myself searching for the best prices from all cruiselines on the ports that I would like to visit.

 

Can't speak for all cruiselines, but out of the 3 that we have sailed on all of them had there up's and down's and had a very good time on each of them.

 

So are you loyal to Carnival, or are you also searching deals?

 

Agree with your sentiments. How can one know which fits better unless you try them? The cruiselines are more similar than they are different so it's a win win situation no matter which cruise you choose.

Yes, there are specialty restaurants. Every other line has them too, perhaps not as many, but they do. No one forces you to eat there. You pay for all the same stuff on NCL you pay for on every other cruise line: photos, bingo, casino, alcohol....a ha! Perhaps people say that because NCL actually enforces their no "smuggling" policy.

 

I'd really like to know what NCL "forces" their passengers to pay for that other cruise lines give away for free. This isn't directed right at you because I know this is only what you've heard, but I'm curious.

I know what you mean. I shake my head every time I hear that. I love the options for dining that NCL offers. I try to take one 14 day cruise every year and when you're on a ship for an extended period, that variety is really nice. .

NCL's new ship, the Epic will offer 21 different reataurants, 11 of which will be no charge. I know darn well I'll have variety when I sail that ship. I could sail for 3 weeks and not eat at the same venue twice.

Kinda cool if you ask me.

Maybe it's just me, but it would seem so much earier to have a different menu in the MDR every night for the same variety, freeing up all that ship space as well.

Variety of atmosphere is nice as well.

 

I sailed one 14 day cruise on X (Infinity) in the same dining room at the same table with the same people every night... so I can tell you that for us, dining in different places around the ship is just as awesome as having the variety of food, prepared by different chefs.

It would be difficult to do something like Teppanyaki in the main dining room....

We usually sail with a large group...every night we dine with different people in the group. Sometimes it may just be 6 of us, sometimes 20 of us. NCL always accomodates us with no fuss. I must say that on the two repos I took with NCL, they literally bent over backwards for our group. I was very impressed.

 

Having all those different dining places isn't the same as what Disney does.

Disney just has an additional main dining room...NCL basically gives you restaurants on top of their two main dining rooms. It's a bit different.

I thought I would miss having the same waiter every night when I first sailed on NCL and I realized that I was wrong. I didn't miss it. I still enjoy it when I am on Carnival, but I like doing both lines...switching it up.

I will say, however, that on the last cruise I took, which was on CCL, there were nights, even though we had late seating that I wished I didn't have to get ready for dinner. I would have liked to put it off for another half hour or so...and I missed 'freestyle' a couple nights that week for that reason. I also prefer the dining room without performing waiters, but I will still always love Carnival.

 

I want to try Princess soon....

I am a loyal to my wallet cruiser. Being loyal to one cruise line or another is foolhardy. The rewards are simply not worth it. You can save a lot more money by allowing yourself to see all cruises then you could by booking one line only in hopes that someday you might get a free cruise.

Those are my feelings as well.

I won't get to 'platinum' status on any line quickly...but I'll get to that status on two or three lines all at once LOL

It just will take a lot longer...and I really don't care. It's not important to me. What is important is just getting a decent deal on any line with an itineary that is interesting OR a ship I haven't sailed on...OR a ship I loved enough to repeat. My goal is to have a great time, not to reach a 'level'.

 

I do see that the level is mighty important to others, however....to each his own.

I'm loyal to myself and my wallet. If Carnival isn't going where I want to go, I'll find someone who is. If Carnival isn't as friendly to my wallet as I'd like I'll find another line who will be or do another type of vacation.

 

I have to second that!:)
