robinsra Posted March 20, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2010 Will the fish throwers and other entertainment to open on Sunday? Thanks And also how do you find the fish throwers?
Casagordita Posted March 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2010 The fish-throwing guys are hard to miss--just look for the big crowd standing around watching! They're near the south end of the Market, where Pike Street runs into Pike Place--right behind Rachel the bronze pig. Some of the restaurants at the Market open by 7 am. It's a fun time to be there--you can see the vendors setting up and the Market waking up for the day. Everything will be open by 9 am. Some vendors are closed on Sundays, but most (including Pike Place Fish, the fish-throwing guys) are open.

ohsoblessed Posted March 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2010 Our flight doesn't arrive until 12:45 on a Saturday and our cruise leaves the next day. We have reservations at Comfort Suites on Roy Street. Do you think we will have time to visit Pike Place Market? I think I read somewhere it closes around 5 in the afternoon. We were looking forward to seeing it.
sammamishcruiser Posted March 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2010 Hi everyone just a BTW on the fish throwing at Pike Place Market. The guys DO NOT just throw the fish, someone has to buy one before any throwing is involved, so you may have to stand around for a while. but the are very entertaining, jokes, and little market history, etc. make sure that you rub Rachel (the pig) for good luck, she's right in front of the fish throwers. Also there are a LOT of other fish markets at the Pike Place Market, check out all the beautiful flowers and also the local honey - yummy!! Oh, almost forgot, there is a bakery on the corner next the the fish market that is very, very good. just buy anything:cool:;) and be sure to check out the original Starbucks too (its in the market just ask anyone for directions, can be a little hard to find) they don't have a lot of stuff, like other Starbucks, just coffee and sometimes some mugs to buy. Enjoy my hometown! Melody

calteacher Posted March 23, 2010 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2010 Is it practical to take a taxi from the airport area to Pier 91 and have a short stop at Pike Market to pick up some flowers? Are the flowers reasonably priced? Thanks for the info.

Are the flowers reasonably priced? Thanks for the info. It's not practical to pay what they charge for waiting time, especially as it will take a long time for the taxi to find a place to park and a while to get in and out of the summer crowds at the market. But the flowers ARE gorgeous and quite reasonably priced.

Dan G Posted March 26, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 26, 2010 the only limitation is when your going into Canada as they allow no produce or flowers or anything with seeds. Starting in Seattle that wouldn't be a problem
