Barba21885 Posted March 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2010 My parents (late70's) will be taking their first cruise together to Nassau in May. They don't want to do any tours or water activities but would like to take a taxi to Atlantis. (Mom has been to Nassau on a mother/daughter cruise) I know that a year ago my DH, DS and his wife went to Atlantis. We walked through the lobby and went through the aquarium which eventually took us to the beach. Someone told me we should have paid. Is this true? This is an activity my folks would like. A day pass at Atlantis gets you what? They are not interested in going to any of the waterpark and I cannot seem them doing anything but walk the beach at Atlantis. I am sure they would enjoy the Aquarium. I never looked, but is there a restaraunt that they can eat at if they just "drop in" at Atlantis. Any names/menus available online? Would really appreciate any input as to what my parents can do that won't be too strenuous....

Yes, it's true, if you were there in the daytime, Security should have stopped you from going thru the aquarium and out to the property, you need a DIGS pass for this. In the evenings, after the pools have closed, you are allowed free access. Around 7pm. This is an activity my folks would like. A day pass at Atlantis gets you what? They are not interested in going to any of the waterpark and I cannot seem them doing anything but walk the beach at Atlantis. I am sure they would enjoy the Aquarium. A Full day pass is $110 and gets you full access to the waterpark etc. A beach Pass allows you access to the ground and the beach. $65 pp. A DIGS aquarium ($35) pass allows you access to the aquariums and predator lagoon, but not all of the lagoons and sealife exhibits. I never looked, but is there a restaraunt that they can eat at if they just "drop in" at Atlantis. Any names/menus available online? If you don't have a pass, you can't eat at the restaurants that are on the pool/beachside properties. Only those in the casino area, lobbies and marina village. The better restaurants are onlly open for dinner. Bimini Road, johnny Rockets and Murrays Deli are available for walk in. None of these are something to write home about. http://www.atlantis.com/content/pdf/menuBiminiRoad.pdf Would really appreciate any input as to what my parents can do that won't be too strenuous.... Just for the record, the main beach at Atlantis has been drastically washed away, and there's no telling when it will be repaired. The Cove Beach is open for cruisers with passes. It's not the long and gorgeous beach like the main beach used to be. just a small man made cove. Here's a slide show showing the damage.. look for Paradise island slides. http://bahama-ads.tripod.com/beaches/ Also, a reminder, not all restaurants are open every day. They are open on a rotating basis, based on occupancy and even with a reservation can be closed on any given day. So be flexible.
