If you were transported from Schiphol, were you taken directly to the boat or to a "holding area" at a hotel? If to a hotel (could be time dependent), which hotel were you taken to? Thanks...

I can answer from a Viking cruise last year. They took us to the ship. The ship had been docked since early morning to start the disembarkation. We arrived at the ship at about 10 AM. People were milling about waiting for their rides to the airport. Viking invited us aboard, offered snacks and coffee and had us wait in the lounge area until our rooms were ready (about noon).

Avalon April 1 and were told that no one can board before 4pm, and that everyone would be taken to the AM Amsterdam Centre hotel for optional excursions, holding luggage while you explore the city on your own, etc.

First transfer to the boat is @ 3:30pm

I can let you know for sure once we return April 8.

Only about 1 week prior, with no optional excursion information

We received our traveling documents today and we will be on the cruise from Amsterdam to Basel on May 1 to the 15th. We bought our air from Avalon and will be picked up from the airport to a hotel. Around 3:30pm we will be taken to the river boat as a group.
