Hello CC friends,

Our group is on the Celebrity Constellation Baltic cruise August 22 -September 1.

Would anyone have suggestions on what type of clothes to pack. . . what is the weather like at that time? Ports are Warnemunde, Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn and Copenhagen.

Many thanks,

Rita

Hi Rita

There have been several threads in the past month or so on this very subject. You should use the search feature and you will come up with several that will answer all your questions. Here is a link to the lst one

As was said in this thread, we cruised in mid to late August, and you could definitely feel the Autumn chill in the air. Most mornings we needed that jacket, and since we had fabulous weather, we were able to take it off, most days, by noon. On the ship, while cruising, you will seek out the sunny areas, as the shade it does get cold.

I would suggest you definitely bring a jacket/windbreaker and some sort of sweater, or sweatshirt to you can do the layer thing if it does get pretty cool.

Most Baltic cruises are finishing up their season about this time as the weather gets a bit cool and wet to enjoy the ports.

Cheers

Hi there,

We took the Emerald Princess around the Baltic last August - I believe we were the last cruise of the season. You definetly could tell fall was in the air, but some days were rather warm. We just layered and took a light jacket. The worst weather we had was in Helsinki - rainy and cold all day. Copenhagen and Stockholm were beautiful. We're from Colorado so the weather didn't bother us too much but there were those wrapped up from head to toe - parka's, gloves, everything. Have a great time - it's an awesome trip.

Thanks Beepongo.

We are from Toronto so we should be fine with the cooler weather too.

We definately will bring clothes we can layer then.

Have a super Easter long weekend!!

It's probably only wishful thinking but everyone in Scandinavia seems to think that, because the past winter was so cold, snowy and long, they are due a long hot summer. Even the weather forecasters think it could be a good one this year.

Warm is in the 'eye of the beholder' LOL

Those of us who come from cold weather climates, anything above 60 is warm and if it reaches 80, well then it is HOT.

But those from maybe the south where 70 might mean breaking out the hats and gloves, well, you get my meaning.

In The Baltics, I would assume to them, if it were a hot summer, temps would be around 80, again, to them = hot.

Here in the eastern end of the Baltic I would expect warm in late August and September. Warm being 70s F and less humidity than in July. September is normally some of the best weather of the year, mild temperatures, little rain, light or no breezes. Late spring is often rainy and or windy. Currently our record snow fall this year is melting off quickly and it was in the mid 50's F today. Rain is expected for the weekend but the temperatures will remain in the 50s. This pattern is what we used to expect before the prior 3 years came with higher temperatures in the winter, very little snow or ice, and wet summers. We are happy we finally got some snow, so our traditional weather pattern might be coming back.

I would suggest packing for layers but no heavy coats, you will not need them. With layers one of the layers can be a light water resistant shell that can be left in your vehicle if you have a tour with a private company.

For shoes I can't recommend enough to have well broken in comfortable walking shoes that give a little support on rough cobble stone walks. Light workout shoes will leave your soles bruised and sore after a day on cobble stones.
