Piggy Cruiser Posted March 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2010 We've booked the Baltic Cruise in May and will be staying in St. Petersburg for 2 days. Do you think it will be unsafe to go ashore with the recent explosion in the undergroud of Moscow? Heard it from the news that St. Petersburg's might be the next target to be attacked..... Rare cruisestitch Posted March 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2010 It might be New York, or Paris, or London, or Oklahoma City. Really, don't give in to the fear unless there is some specific information.
Phxazzcruisers Posted March 30, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2010 I agree with above poster. It could be any City in the world at any time. If you give in to fear, the bad guys win, and you will never go anywhere. St Petersburg is an incredible beautiful City. See all you can while you are there

Coveguy4 Posted March 31, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2010 When I was in St Peterburg you could not get off the ship except with a tour. You had to apply for a visa in advance (was about $100.00 from Russia) On my tour I did manage to leave the group while they were in a designated shopping area, and sneak away to the Grand Hotel for drinks. We did tell our tour guide who did not want us to, but we made it back with time to spare B4 the bus left. We took the Grand 2 day tour, and it was great. Hint: If you want to buy something to bring back, the prices outside Catherine's Summer Palace were the best. Your tour guide will tell you not to buy till she takes you to a designated area in the city, but they get a commission on the sales they bring in, AND the prices are MUCH higher for the EXACT things.
